The Dubai Sports City is an entire sports city currently being constructed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The city will consist of apartment buildings as well as several sports facilities. The first structures are due to open in late 2007. Many people believed it was going to be used in Dubai's possible bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, but Dubai never submitted a bid.
The main sports structure will be the 60,000 seat, multi-purpose outdoor stadium. This stadium will be used for athletics, possibly cricket, football, and rugby union. Other venues include a 25,000 seat cricket ground, a 10,000 seat indoor arena, a 5,000 seat field hockey stadium, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Ernie Els.
