The Dubai School of Government is a research and teaching institution in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which focuses on public policy in the Arab world. The School was established in 2005 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

According to the School’s Web site, it “aims to promote good governance through enhancing the region’s capacity for effective public policy.”

The School conducts applied research in public policy and management, focusing on four primary areas: gender and public policy, public management, e-government, and youth exclusion. Research is conducted with an eye to academic rigor and to policy relevance for the Arab world.

The Dubai School of Government also conducts both customized and open executive education programs through its faculty and in cooperation with the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. Executive education clients have included organizations within the Dubai Government, as well as governments throughout the Arab world.

In March 2008, DSG launched the Executive Diploma in Public Administration, a postgraduate diploma, together with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. In fall 2008, the School is expected to commence its first master’s program, the Master of Public Administration, for mid-career level executives.
