Dub War were a four-piece Metal band from Newport, South Wales, UK. Formed in 1993, the band offered an innovative mix of metal, punk, and ragga, inheriting the punk-reggae legacy of The Clash and Bad Brains. Their lyrics were thoughtful and idealistic drawing comparisons with former, though musically they were closer to the hard rock sound of the latter. Some fans consider the band to have been pioneers of the new genre, ragga metal.
They released only two albums via the metal label Earache Records. 1995s 'Pain' and the much more experimental 'Wrong Side of Beautiful' the following year.
The Dub War experience was short-lived as the band split in 1999. This separation resulted from disputes with their label, Earache Records.

[edit] Skindred
In mid-1999, Benji and Dan Pugsley started a new band, Skindred, and former Dub War members Jeff and Ginge also joined the band. This incarnation of the band released a single album, Babylon, before Jeff and Ginge both left in late 2002, due to their mistreatment by the record label, RCA.
Benji and Dan recruited replacements, and Skindred went on to enjoy critical success. Their second album titled Roots Rock Riot was released on October 22, 2007 (23 in the UK).
[edit] Raw Bud
Jeff, Ginge and Richie continue to work together on a new project: Raw Bud.
