Dual containment was a term used in relation to the foreign policy of the United States of America in reference to attempts to isolate the countries Iraq and Iran from both other countries in the region and the international community as a whole in the period up to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq[1] The policy is particularly associated with the administration of Bill Clinton.[2]
[edit] Issues
One major issue in relation to the policy of dual containment was the differing attitudes to sanctions against Iraq which the US and its NATO allies had.
