Another Tip of the moment...
Neologisms are words and terms that have recently been "coined" and generally do not appear in any dictionary. Avoid using neologisms when creating articles on Wikipedia, unless they are part of the subject being covered and need to be explained (in such a case be sure to define the new words). Neologisms include words made up on the spot, and these should never be used in a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia relies on established English to explain its subjects. It is important that every word in Wikipedia can be understood by those who read it. This ensures that Wikipedia always conveys accessible and meaningful knowledge. [edit] AutoWikiBrowser
Thank you for your recent application to use AutoWikiBrowser. Regrettably, I have declined your request as you do not have 500 mainspace edits. You are welcome to apply again at a later time. Feel free to contact me with any questions, alphachimp 01:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Stooges3s.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Stooges3s.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:12, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Not sure
im not sure how to report vandalism, the page is all jumbled, but since you're an investigator i thought i would tell you that 69.47.123.219 is seriously vandalizing pages.
I too came across and IP that appears to have a history of vandalism and personal attacks and I am unsure of exactly who needs to be notified or what additional steps, if any, I need to do.
The offender's IP address is 74.96.215.187 and from the Wikipedia entry on that IP address, it appears it is an assigned IP address rather than one for a pool.

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia
I thought you might like a user page upgrade to help you get started. As you learn more about wikimarkup, you can alter it to suit your tastes, or if you would rather start from scratch, it's a simple matter to remove the enhancements, and I would be happy to oblige. I've included some custom subpages in your menu modeled after the ones I use, and right below the menu I've provided some links to a few of my subpages which I thought you might find useful or interesting. In your workshop there's a convenient link to your header template in case you want to edit it. The help page is a more complete welcome message than this one, including a selection of among the very best links for getting started on Wikipedia.
I hope you like it!
And if there's anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask. The Transhumanist 03:43, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
P.S.: Note that the links on the far right of the top line of your menu bar are 3 of the most useful Wikipedia pages. --TT
[edit] Re-booting Magic WikiProject
I'm contacting you because you are listed as a participant at the Magic WikiProject. There is a draft for a new version of the main project page up for discussion and I would welcome your comments or suggestions. I wrote the draft because I was encouraged to try to do something to breathe some life back into the project and also to address some long standing problems that seem to dog it. The draft is posted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Magic/draft magic project page. Since starting to edit at Wikipedia in February I've contributed 25 new articles to the Magic project and added material to many more. I would really like to see this thing get going again but I need at least a few people to give some sign of encouragement if I am to continue. [edit] Image:NewSDMovies 3Stooges.JPG
Hello DTGardner, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:NewSDMovies 3Stooges.JPG) was found at the following location: User:DTGardner/StoogesWork. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Commie
I've nominated Commie, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Commie satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Commie (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Commie during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Angus Lepper(T, C, D) 23:11, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User mghabmw / IP 208.169.94.8
I am looking for an admin to take action against user mghabmw (he also uses his IP # 208.169.94.8). This user is a fan of the New York Yankees and continues to change info box colors on baseball players' sites to Yankees colors, even when they have played many more years on other clubs. Recent examples include Joe Girardi (played 6 years on Cubs, 3 years on Yankees) and Reggie Jackson (played 9 years on A's, 5 years on Yankees). The general rule is that longevity dictates the colors on a player's site, as that is the only true objective measure. He continues to violate the 3RR rule and has ruined these pages for others. Please advise. Joeidaho 18:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User - Kingdom of crash and spyro
I don't know if I'm doing the right thing here, but I'm looking for someone that will take action against User:Kingdom of crash and spyro; this user has repeatedly been changing the profile image on the article Crash Bandicoot (character) simply because he/she thinks it's "poster quality". I've mentioned the lack of licensing and fair use rationale on previous few edit attempts and also spoke directly to the user relating to how it isn't an acceptable image on the guidelines relating to non-free content. He/she even refused to take criticsms relating to their grammar and punctuation, so he/she can be seen to be disruptive to various other forum members in spite of being told the main morales for Wikipedia image hosting and article editing.
Is there any chance that you can chip in with an investigation on this user, or find a way to contact an admin about it? It will be very appreciated, this user has been causing trouble for weeks. Freqrexy 20:34, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] December to Dismember (2006) - PR
I would be very greatful if you could make comments on the article. As you probably don't know much on the subject matter, its always good to get an "outsider" to have a look at the article. Davnel03 08:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Are you going to try to have a look at the article or not, as it is currently up as a GA nominee? Thanks, Davnel03 16:31, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adoption!
Hello, DTGardner! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. I primarily do anti-vandal work, but if you would just like to find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with Wikipedia! Tiptoety 22:22, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:ImissTTV.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ImissTTV.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 15:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adoption
I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm someone you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page if you want advice, or if you wish to take up my offer of adoption. Good luck with Wikipedia! Urbane (Talk) (Contributions) 14:48, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's great news :) Feel free to ask as many questions as you like, nothing is too trivial. Urbane (Talk) (Contributions) 17:36, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill 14:01, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Madison Heights
I'm not sure what you were trying to do with these edits but they messed up the coding for {{convert}}. If this was some type of Java Script code you'll have to redo it so that it does not try to format the coding in templates like {{convert}}. —MJCdetroit (talk) 23:46, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Tag & Assess 2007 is now officially over, with slightly under 68,000 articles processed. The top twenty scores are as follows:
Although the drive is officially closed, existing participants can continue tagging until January 31 if they wish, with the extra tags counting towards their tally for barnstar purposes. We'd like to see what lessons can be learned from this drive, so we've set up a feedback workshop. Comments and feedback from participants and non-participants alike are very welcome and appreciated. |
