David Lawrence Stead Sr. David L. Stead was born in Cortland, New York in 1967. He is a graduate of Binghamton Central High School in Binghamton, New York and is currently a disabled veteran living in Florida.

Sergeant Stead has graduated from the U.S. Navy Operations Specialist Class “A” School in September 1988, the U.S. Army Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics Course in June 1994, the U.S. Air Force Common Electronic Principals Course in January 2001, the U.S. Air Force Avionics Guidance and Control Systems Specialist Course in May 2001, the U.S. Air Force Heating Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Specialist Course in January 2004, and the U.S. Army Water Treatment Specialist Course in September 2005.

Among his assignments, he has served as the Air and Surface Warfare Supervisor onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), Battle Staff Anti-Surface Warfare Tracker for Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group 12, 1ST Battalion 15TH Field Artillery Maintenance Mechanic, 561ST Battalion Motor Sergeant JRTC 1996, 98TH Division FA-TRAC Log Support Team Motor Sergeant OIF2, 49TH Group Support Operations Administration NCOIC, and 49TH Group Operations Sergeant.

Sergeant Stead’s military Awards include the Army Commendation Medal, with 4 Bronze Oak Leafs, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leafs, Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Air Reserve Force Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf, National Defense Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Antarctic Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 1 Bronze Hour Glass and Bronze “M” Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Air Force Training Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal from the Government of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal from Government of Kuwait, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Navy “E” Ribbon, Army Driver Mechanics Badge, Air Force Maintenance Badge and the Air Force Civil Engineering Badge. He also received awards not authorized for wear on the active duty army uniform. The New York State Conspicuous Service Medal from the Governor of New York for service while assigned to the New York Army National Guard, New York State Aid to Civil Authority Medal for search and rescue efforts during Operation Ice 1998 and the New York State Defense of Liberty Medal with World Trade Center Device for search and rescue efforts at Ground Zero.

Sergeant Stead has served in three branches of the United States Military spanning Twenty years serving in a variety of positions in the Republic of South Korea, Kuwait, Iraq, Antarctica and the United States he is accompanied by his wife Brianne and his six children Jacob, Emily, Abagayle, Catelynne, Kendra and David Jr.
