[edit] About me

I was born and raised in Hong Kong under the British colonial rule. I grew up with my younger brother, 2 years younger than me.

In 1993, with the memories of the protests in Tiananmen Square in 1989 still fresh in our minds, and overshadowed by the uncertainty of what will happen after the handover in 1997, my parents decided to send me and my brother away from home to study abroad in the UK. There I obtained my 10 GCSEs, 3 A-Levels, and then in the summer of 2001, I graduated with a bachelor degree in computer science from University College London.

I stayed in the UK for another 3 years after graduating. During the 3 years I have worked with a web-only news publishing company called ZDNet UK, then moved on to help with a group of academic researchers at Imperial College London, developing imaging software for a biological microscope called Scanning Ion-Conductance Microscope (SICM). By this time, I have already spent nearly eleven years away from home and my parents.

Since the beginning of 2005, I have been back in Hong Kong, working as a system analyst for a charity, while studying part-time to be an IT auditor.

While I am not in front of the computer, I play 5-a-side football, nearly every Sunday, if the weather permits. Apart from football, badminton and swimming are also my favourite sports.
