Dry bite

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dry bite is a bite by a venomous animal in which no venom is released. When venomous snakes bite because they feel threatened, the first bite will often be a dry bite. It is therefore not advisable to attempt to collect the snake when bitten, as subsequent bites will be venomous, and will aggravate the condition of the patient, who may initially only suffer from shock.
