"It was the largest housing estate in Europe - at one time there were over 50,000 people living there."

Virtually all articles about housings estate seem to make this claim. It seems unlikely in this case as Knightswood is the largest estate in Glasgow, and that pre-dates Drumchapel by about 20 years. Should be removed unless it can be verified.

Ps, It was a population of over 45,000+ up till the 1970's when the area's population started to decline as did the housing stock, as mentioned here: http://www.drumchapelhigh.glasgow.sch.uk/AboutSchool/aimsBackground.aspx

Knightswood may be the largest estate but in what context? Certainly not in population - Drumchapel's population, particularly in the early to late 70's, did indeed have a population which breached the 40,000 mark. It has now declined significantly. OzScot (talk) 17:52, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
