Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie is a 2004 book by Jordan Sonnenblick.

The main character is Steven Alper, a 13 year old boy living in Pennsylvania. But one day after a nose bleed and an emergency room trip for his brother Jeffrey, Steven is hit with the shocking truth that Jeffrey has leukemia. Everybody in Steven's family is dumbfounded and his father is very anti-social with Steven when Jeffrey goes for his chemotherapy treatments. No sicknesses can be near Jeffrey and when Steven is hit with the flu, he must stay with his grandparents. When Steven first finds out about the illness, he doesn't let anybody know until his teachers crack him down after he doesn't do his work. He finally comes clean and becomes popular and gets attention from everybody. At one point, Steven's mom becomes sick so Steven and his father have to take Jeffrey to his treatment. There he meets Sam, a girl with leukemia. Jeffery has his drum kit for the All-City Jazz Band with him and teaches her how to play. Two weeks after the band concert they all go back to Philadelphia to find that Sam has passed away. At the concert Steven's entire band has made the concert a benefit for Steven's family who has hospital bills to pay. The band also shaved their heads bald in honor of Jeff. During intermission, Steven realizes Jeff is burning up and is rushed to the emergency room. Now at the end they are all at the Middle School Graduation and Jeffrey is cancer-free.
