[edit] Drumhead

Drumhead is a new drum magazine in North America. It covers legendary drummers, as well as fresh talents. It includes columns of the various related aspects of drumming such as legal issues, physical maintenance and nutrition. They also dedicate a big portion of the magazine to education and exercises. Drumhead is the only drum magazine in the United States to be accompanied by an audio CD, which includes educational videos

[edit] Interviews

Drumhead publishes an honest look at the artists, the lives they lead and the world they live in - not just what kit they play and whom they're playing it with, but what makes them who they are. The four first issues had a variety of drummers from big shots like Neil Peart, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Bill Bruford, Keith Carlock, Dennis Chambers, Godsmack, and Rod Morgenstein to new drummers that have a promising career ahead of them.

[edit] Education

Drumhead also tapes and tabs private master classes in various departments covering everything from advanced playing, basic studio chops, independence, digital editing and more, covering all styles of music around the globe. They call on the top players and teachers to share the guidance and instruction that has helped them get to where they are today. Garry Chaffee, Mike Mangini, Victor Jones, and Dave Mattacks count among the many returning and notable percussion teachers. Drumhead also has master classes with guest instructors like Simon Phillips and Jason Bittner.

Learn From The Pros Every issue has note-for-note transcriptions of a variety of songs, covering everything from pop to prog, fusion to funk. This gives the reader a chance to follow along, to learn exactly what the drummer was playing, and learn how to read a chart. Full drum charts as well as lead sheets are printed in every issue

Practice With The Pros Every CD has two songs to learn from, one with drums and one without, along with a drum chart in the magazine to learn from and play to.

Play With The Pros When the reader is finally ready to record his demo, he/she has an opportunity to log on to the DRUMHEAD website, choose the material(s) that he/she wants to perform on, download the actual full stereo mixes to import into any recording format and get creative from there.

[edit] Editors

Jonathan Mover, a professional drummer himself, helped conceptualize the magazine and is presently editor-in-chief of the magazine.

Prior to joining the DRUMHEAD Team, Managing Editor Heather Smith worked at Century Media Records.

[edit] Awards

Drumhead won the Winter NAMM 2007 “Best in Show” award in the small goods category.
