Drum and Bass Arena
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Drum and Bass Arena is the world's largest drum and bass website, established in 1996. It offers up to date information on the worldwide drum and bass scene, has an online shop and a large forum with almost 50,000 members.
The site also has a D&BTV section, showing various video clips, and a digital download section.
The site was created in 1996 by Sheffield-based Drum & Bass enthusiast The Risky. In 1998, he teamed up with Del Dias (ddias) to further develop the site as a serious concern. World famous art directors The Designers Republic were brought in to create the distinctive yellow and black identity and logo. Since then the business has been extended into events and tours, TV-advertised compilation albums, merchandise, digital distribution and various other brand extensions. Indeed Ministry of Sound recently described Drum & Bass Arena as the "Ministry of Drum & Bass".
Notable achievements include:
- Best selling Drum & Bass Compilation series (2004 released reached No.3 in UK compilation charts) with over 250k sales to date
- No.1 Music Podcast on iTunes (2006)
- Winner 'Best Music Business Website' (Music Week Creative and Design Awards 1999)
The site and brand is owned by Art Empire Industries Ltd, a London based digital media company.
[edit] The Forum
The forums of Drum and Bass Arena are host to a thriving, diverse community notable for their largely bizarre, witty and irreverent sense of humour. Many forum members are keen amateur DJ's and regularly host their mixes for others to download.
