[edit] Breast implant

I wont get into the actual debate on this topic; others clearly feel risks verified, I suspect you are editing from the "unproven" stance and as a typical UK GP I suppose I might be viewed by the campaigners as belonging to the "medical orthodoxy". However I have tried in my recent edits to ensure NPOV phrasing, and in particular spent far more time trying to sort out all the references in matching reference linkage and citation styles. With this last point in mind, could I ask that any citations added are not just PubMed reference numbers, but rather that full citation details are provided.

Fortunately there are tools available to semi-automate this process for medical articles via PubMed. These automatically generate for one the the { cite jounal } } template markup (see Template talk:Cite journal for explanation of its fields) either from viewing the PubMed abstract or just knowing the PubMed article number. These tools are described at Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine#References.

The "official" guide is at Wikipedia:Footnotes and I am in the process of trying to write a simpler guide (see User:Davidruben/Sandbox#WP:Cite:Ref). Finally I recently tried to explain my overall approach at upgrading article's citations on your "sparing partner's" talk page - see User talk:Jgwlaw#Referencing. So please do feel free to ask any questions about citing in wikipedia :-) David Ruben Talk 01:15, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Breast Implant - Edit conflict

I'm putting this same message on both user talk-pages to state that there is obviously at edit/POV conflict in progress on this article - I've made some suggestions at Talk:Breast implant#Edit war, if you would like to comment... :-) David Ruben Talk 17:40, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Please note that after recent spat of constant editing, I've sadly notified WP:3RR violations and also placed Wikipedia:Request for Comment. I would suggest leaving further editing for now (whatever the current state of the article) while this content/POV dispute can be addressed. David Ruben Talk 03:52, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Hello Droliver,

I am an administrator on Wikipedia, and regret to inform you that I've had to block you from editing the encyclopedia for a period of 48 hours. The reason for this is that you have been a participant in an 'edit war' on the article Breast implant. This block is intended to prevent further edit warring between the parties concerned, as well as provide all of you the opportunity to think about your actions and how you might best engage in thoughtful discussion about your concerns on the article talk page, after your block expires. If you wish to speak with me about this block, please either post a message on your talk page (i.e., this one), or send me an email here. Kind regards —Encephalon 04:53, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please...

Don't remove discussions on talk pages. Johnleemk | Talk 15:36, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Follow the rules - Bi Article

Rob, your edits will continue being reverted, since you refuse to discuss, as requested by consensus of editors. An administrator had already reverted your edits, twice, and now I have as well. You give a bad name to your profession.MollyBloom 02:09, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

I stand by my statement. Your idea of science is a half-science, that is biased towards your own interests. You simply block out what you don't like. That is pathetic, and scary for an alleged doctor. Furthermore, you did NOT lay out what you were editing. You only had a chart, which you continued to add after other editors decided it was not a good idea. Before any major changes occur, you MUST discuss the specific changes, as will I, and get other editor input. And until (or if ever) you do that, no, you won't make much progress. Also, the links stay. The Emed stays, too, but so do the ones I included. You can't have it one way, ROBBIE.MollyBloom 03:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your format

I see you liked my format, and used it. Nice, Rob. Imitation (or lifting) is the sincerest form of flattery. Oh, by the way, there are no moderate Republicans. They were thrown out of the party years ago.  ;-) MollyBloom 00:07, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

There is no issue of plagerism. I just found it amusing. MollyBloom 17:19, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your alma mater

Rob, I thought you got your MD from the University of South Alabama, not the Univ of Alabama. There is a huge difference in those medical schools. Isn't it a misrepresentation to leave off the "South"? UA in Birmingham is one of the top 20 med schools. On the other hand, USA barely cracks 100.MollyBloom 02:44, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Furthermore, how do you treat breast cancer? Are you also an oncologist? 05:30, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Honesty

Not snob appeal, just honesty, Rob. A casual observer would assume that you went to medical school at the University of Alabama. That is not honest. Similarly, it is not honest to say you treat breast cancer when you are not an oncologist. You do reconstructive surgery. That is not treating breast cancer. You seem to have a real problem with honesty, in fact, Rob.MollyBloom 17:19, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Maxwell Clr.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Maxwell Clr.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ian13/talk 20:53, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Um, well, do you have an actuctal source for the image? Even if it is fair use, one should be given. Ian13/talk 08:05, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] G. Patrick Maxwell

The message is being sent to all those involved in the G. Patrick Maxwell editing dispute. Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Please also note that this does not mean you have three reverts to use every 24 hours, and such deliberate attempts to work around the 3RR will also lead to action being taken. As a note, should I take action against anyone involved for reverting after this warning was given, all parties who have broken the rule will face equal punishment. Thanks! Ian13/talk 18:44, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi there

Thanks for your email and I'm happy to help out. Maxwell's 44 pubmed references make him a fine candidate for inclusion and I've tried to establish that on the talk page and the voting for deletion. Hope it achieves something.

I've had a hard time with molly who seemed quite nice at first but who now appears difficult. She put me off the Breast implants article so I've been concentrating on other stuff.

Sorry for a slow reply - I had my fellowship exam last week (sort of like boards), but I passed so I'm back. Is there any other way of censoring our problem?

Will.

ps popping in Inamed 150 Becker dual chamber implants tomorrow. Expensive fun!

[edit] Mediation

Hello there, I am Cowman109Talk from the Mediation Cabal. Please see Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-06-08 G. Patrick Maxwell so we can discuss the matter concerning the removal of a certain paragraph from the G. Patrick Maxwell article. Thanks. Cowman109Talk 17:29, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3RR

Droliver, as previously warned (by both myself and bainer), you have recently been in violation of WP:3RR. You are hereby blocked for 31 hours for your actions: [1], [2], [3] & [4]. Please note that Jgwlaw has also been blocked. (I am NOT the blocking admin, this has been reviewed and decided by User:Tawker). Ian13/talk 18:40, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:HJB head.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:HJB head.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:54, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:HJB head.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:HJB head.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --BrownCow • (how now?) 23:39, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Breast implant

I've been working on breast implant and seem to have reached the stage where the atmosphere has reached one of intense collaboration. Simply deleting negative material without discussion is now more or less impossible. You may wish to list your objections to particular material on the talk page, and we'll all weigh in. Who knows, we may end up with something neutral at the end! JFW | T@lk 07:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] G. Patrick Maxwell 1997 court case

I have deleted the material relating to this. Do not reinstate it. This is not an editing decision. It is removed to protect the Foundation. I am currently having dialogue with OFFICE over this matter. Contact me if you wish to discuss it. Thank you. Tyrenius 19:48, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
