I am a historian on Mexico/Central America. I am also a teacher in Southern California. I am a 4th-generation U.S. citizen of proud Mexican ancestry.

My ancestry can be shown to go back between 40,000-50,000 years on this continent, and that supersedes what anyone of European descent feels they can dictate to me about "where I belong."
