[edit] Article Content

I believe this article has been subject to many small, unstructured additions producing an incoherent and somewhat unintelligible read. The information in the main body is delivered in a short and almost truncated manner for the most part, explicating very little as the topics progress. Secondly, half of the text under “History” relates very loosely to history; distinct sections relating explicitly to their own content may solve this.

Any ideas?

I am busy with work on another project for a neighbouring county, but I always point people towards Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements as a guide for writing about settlements. Anyone who has the time to revise this article may well find it profitable to pay attention to that guide's contents as well.  DDStretch  (talk) 17:59, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
I see what you mean, it isn't well structured. If I find time, I may try rearranging stuff and attempt to input some more things. However, my knowledge of Dronfield is limited, even though I live there... I guess I should know more about my town, so I'll attempt to discover things. --Steven Weston 21:15, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your inputs. I too live in Dronfield and know little about it, so extra knowledge is essential if this article is to become more than a haphazard pincushion of facts. Naqahdah 11:03, 25th March 2007

Hi, I've started a revamp (hope I've not used too many templates... :-)). I could use with some help, if anybody out there knows about Dronfield (and if anyone knows a reliable source it would be appreciated). I'll attempt to input things as time goes and I've requested some pictures, which I might end up getting myself.--Steven Weston 13:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

The explicitness of the article relies upon the amount of sections, and I believe each heading grants a scope within which many facts exist. Evidently the real problem is attracting structured additions from others, and of course, collecting pictures. Good start though! Naqahdah 21:17, 26th March 2007
From my experience of trying to bring article's within Cheshire up to standard within the Cheshire WikiProject, I'd like to suggest that when you are revising and adding to the article, you always add citations and references at the same time (see WP:CITE, WP:References, and WP:A for pointers). It is really difficult -- almost impossible at times -- to do this afterwards, and an unreferenced article is not a good thing for an encyclopedia to have.  DDStretch  (talk) 23:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Map as shown in InfoBox

Why is the map that is shown the South Yorkshire one, when Dronfield is in Derbyshire, which means the caption to the map is incorrect (it isn't "within South Yorkshire" at all)?  DDStretch  (talk) 01:31, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I've reverted it, as it is just not correct as it stands with no justification.  DDStretch  (talk) 01:32, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Economics

Made a start on the section with list of firms and brief descriptions. Need to find article on William Lees / Cammels ? for foundry from local history articles to fill out detail. As iron works was responsible for major expansion of the town.

The Railways arrival, and old Lucas works also could be added if some details of dates Known.

(Also amended Dronfield school entry as read as if all school burnt down which it did not !!) --BulldozerD11 (talk) 02:47, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
