Drosera regia (the king sundew) is a carnivorous plant in the sundew genus, Drosera, that originates from South Africa. The specific epithet regia comes from the Latin for 'royal', a reference to the large size of the plant, the leaves of which can exceed 50 cm in length[citation needed]. Drosera regia is known among carnivorous plant growers as being rather difficult to grow, although the recently introduced cultivar D. regia 'Big Easy' is reputed to be more robust.
