[edit] Re: Your Recent Edit of Gray Wolf (11:41, 17 March 2007)
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Gray Wolf, is not consistent with our policy on attribution and verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. The weight data that you changed (and which I am reverting) is presently supported by Frequently Asked Questions about Wolves. Sinapu (November 2002)., the fourth reference in the present enumeration. In particular the data you changed are supported by: How much do adult wolves weigh?.
Please do not constue this as a an admonishment that I am right, you are wrong. Closer to the case is apparently unreferenced data replacing referenced data. Indeed, you may very well have subject matter expertise in this area and are capable of citing one or a number of references that are more current or which come from more accurate studies. In this case, I heartily invite you to restore the edit you have made and furnish a reference that supports your edit (this is key). Currently this article make use of citation templates which automatically handle enumeration and formats the citation in a standard way. Drop me a note if you have difficulty with using this template.
This is currently a featured article; many editors have expended a great deal of time to bring this article up to meet that high standard. Part of that standard entails maintaining accurate and current references, above the norm of most Wikipedia articles. I am sure you understand, but if you have any questions or concerns, you may get in touch with me via my talk page. — Gosgood 12:40, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Update: I've also reverted your 18:22 UTC 20-Feb-2007 update to Gray Wolf, where you changed the height data maximum from 32 inches to 36 inches. You seem to think that the Sinapu site is inaccurate, and I, for one, would not stand in the way of your edits if you have better, more current sources. In the absense of that, I prefer cited attributions over unattributed data, especially in a featured article. Take care. — Gosgood 14:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
