Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift (known as Kaido Battle in Japan) is the third racing game published by Crave Entertainment for the Playstation 2, preceded by Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. It is different from the previously released TXR games. It allows you to race in both day and night. Day time is where you can do competitions, you win money in doing so. Night time is where you can race against CPU controlled rivals to gain respect. Unfortunately, neither of these played out well. Drifting is hard to do, as you must slow down to an unbelievable speed, you can even see most of the CPU controlled rivals just gripping through the turn. Not winning cash in night time makes it hard to win money, the graphics are poor compared to games of its time, and loading times are unbearable. There are good parts though, a type of messageboard shows the rivals posting when they will be racing, sometimes they will even tell you the car they are racing. The messageboard also gives you hints and tips. Sponsorships help with parts sometimes, and the number of car makers are increased, with Alfa Romeo and Honda making an appearance.
