Talk:Drivin N Cryin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article isn't bad. A little light, but not bad. My biggest contention here is the statement that Drivin' N' Cryin' were "never recognized on a national level". That's pretty inaccurate. Both "Fly Me Courageous" and "Build A Fire" received significant airplay on MTV in 1990 and 1991 - both on the request show and otherwise. Granted, this is not even close to the level of recognition that hardcore Drivin' N' Cryin' fans would have liked, but I have met many people from Pennsylvania, California, and the Mid-West that not only know who the band is, but are as avid of followers as those of us from their native Georgia. That being said, the comment "their Southern spin on rock being lost on the rest of the world" is very, very subjective. I think it would be more accurate to say that they attained success and recognition among college students of all regions. The band's success never reached the level of say... Courntey Love, but then no member of drivin' n' cryin' ever killed anyone (that we know of).
