[edit] "Origin" section; regarding Kosova / Kosovo

Hello, Mig11 and PajaBG – your disagreement and subsequent edit war has put you both foul of the Wikipedia 3 reverts rule. Please read about it. But more importantly, please discuss your argument here so you (perhaps with contributions from others) can find the truth (or reach a compromise about wording) without making the article itself a battleground. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 01:52, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I didn`t broke the 3RR. Please take a good look bevore claiming such things! PajaBG is well known for his revertings without even making a discusion about it. So I don`t see why I should explain again and again to a user, why I am editing things, when he just keeps on reverting them. --just a happy girl :) 02:02, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
This is like in a kindergarten...well, I didn't broke the 3RR but Mig11 did as she reverted it 4 times. Just like she did with Pećka Bistrica. Not even Albania recognizes Kosovo as an independent country, therefore, until Kosovo is recognized internationally as such, Mig11's so called edits are just an attempt at propaganda and I don't see point in discussing anything about it (does Rhine flows between Germany and France or between Germany and Alsace?) PajaBG 02:16, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh yes of course, you would like to see me breaking the 3RR, but sorry for you: I didn`t. I am really, really sorry for you: you are just one of the victims of the Serbian medial-brainwashing-machine. One day you will weak up and see where the Serbian nationalstic propaganda brought your land and yourself. Nowhere! But you just need time to realise it.--just a happy girl :) 03:00, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

First of all...no need to feel sorry for me, it's a shame to waste feelings like that, keep that for someone who really needs it. It's a crapy feel anyway. Second, I don't see myself as a victim...others play that part way too well. Third, my brain still works perfectly well, thank you very much! Fourth...speaking of brainwashing...you should really read what you are writing. And fifth, hold your breath for a couple of more months until world finally separates you completely (it would be such a shame that they bombed us for nothing, right) and then you can write that all those rivers flow on Mars if you like...until then, your edits in this direction will be reverted PajaBG 03:16, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Why everything you write sounds like : bla bla bla....? Those rivers flow in Kosova, it is very hard for you to accept it. That is your problem, not mine. You just have a need to repeat the name of Serbia for 100 times in every article, because of the paranoia you seem to have, what could happened if the name Serbia would be mentioned just once! Please, ask your politicians why they bombed your land. Or you already know it, but just can not face the truth and realise, what kind of massacres your politicians and the army of your land did in the last 15 years (at least). Thanks God, they didn`t had the chance to go to Mars until now, they would burn it also and call it then "a heart of Serbia"! But I don`t think that you are able and willing to realise these things by know.--just a happy girl :) 03:36, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh boy...here we go again with all that 'oh world hear me, I am a poor innocent Albanian victim molested by the Serbian cave men, oh' rubbish...and you are talking about me being brainwashed? Maybe you should change your nick to 'just a frustrated girl'...but at least it is clear now (which was clear to me already but there, some wanted us to talk) that any kind of communication with you is impossible. Go out and find a boyfriend. This discussion is pointless and, from my side, over. PajaBG 04:10, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] total length

The various Wikipedia's give very different numbers for the length of this river: 160 km over here, 148 in the Czech WP and 285 km in the German and Hungarian ones (unfortunately, the Albanian one does not say anything). All WP' seem to count from the confluence of the White and the Black Drin, so the problem may be somewhere else. But where?

What makes me doubt even more about the 160 km in this WP is the statement that measured from the source of White Drin, its length is 335 km. Why isn't this lenght measured from the source of the Black Drin? As far as I know the latter is the longer one (134 vs 149 km), or is there uncertainty over here as well?

Who can help? Fransvannes 09:33, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Black Drin is the shorter headstream: it is 122 km long, out of which 65 km in Macedonia and 57 km in Albania. White Drin however is much longer, 175 km, 156 km in Serbia and 19 km in Albania. So 175+160 = 335 km. I don't know where did you find data that Black Drin in 149 km long. Some of the references I used you can find at the end of this article and you can also check White Drin. PajaBG 09:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you! The German WP] gives 285 km for the Drin, 134 km for the White Drin, and 149 km for the Black Drin. The Hungarian WP gives 149 km for the black one as well. I will ask the German and Hungarian WP which sources they used for their Drina. Fransvannes 10:29, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
In the meantime on the German WP I was given a link to the Statistical Office of Kosovo. It gives 122 km for the White Drin within Kosovo: much less than your 156 km. Then it gave this site with a figure of 285 km for the entire Drin: much less again than the 335 km over here. What shall we do now? Fransvannes 15:44, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, sources that give 175 km are: Encyclopaedic geography lexicon of Yugoslavia (1990) ISBN 86-01-02651-6, Little Encyclopaedia Prosveta, Volume I (1986), ISBN 86-07-00001-2, Serbian Family Encyclpaedia, Volume (2006), ISBN 86-331-2732-6. I think that, unless some major and obvious misinformation, original sources from the countries that objects belongs to should be used. As for your sources. The (Albanian) Statistical Office of Kosovo, if it really does any real statistics, has highly limited area of expertise. It appears to be just one political cogwheel for the independence movement as it names Serbia the "neighboring country" and gives names only in Albanian even though Serbian names are still officially used in the West and even on Kosovo UNMIK claims (but not actually doing so) that both Albanian and Serbian names should be used, with the name of the majority (in the municipality) used first. So the data from this source are generally doubtful. They claim the area of Kosovo is 10,908 instead of 10,887 used for decades and name the Kosovo Cadastre as the source. Now, after 1999 they might have done many things in the cadastre but they for sure didn't do the entire re-measurement of Kosovo, especially since they don't control Serbian north of the province and several enclaves. So, be carfeul with such sources. As for the lenght of the Drin...I don't know...even if 122 km is only on Kosovo, then you still have some 20 km in Albania so 285 is out of the question anyway (if you follow the shortest version, it is still 148+122+19 = 289 or 160+122+19 = 301). Now, a catch...Albanian statistical office claims that Drin flows through Albania for 285 km which simply can't be remotely confirmed by any other source. If that is true, Drin should be long 407 km (285+122) or 350 (285+65, which is for how long Black Drin flows through Macedonia). Unles Albanian state institute counts Kosovo as an Albanian territory (Length in Albanian territory). So, if you think that it should be noted there are different lengths reported, add that to the article, I don't think it is really an issue, it doesn't change the fact it is the longest river in Albania. I stand by my numbers :o) It should be noted that White Drin flows underground for a while in its initial flow so this may be the source of the discrepancy but I can't confirm that.
