[edit] Additional tips
Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

I don't know what I did wrong, but aparently i did something. i was trying to use another page as a template for the one i was creating. i think that was a bad thing to do. Can i get this revoked. you will see I was just trying to modify a new article i was creating on CCM, (i had just created on PACE)
- Your block has already expired. Please don't violate the Wikipedia:Copyrights policy in future or you will be blocked again. If you want to copy and paste source material before you rework it, please do so as a user subpage before you move it into article space. Thanks. -- Netsnipe ► 12:15, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categorizing
Usually what I recommend in terms of categorizing, is to look at other similar pages, to see how they're categorized. Then you can click on "edit this page" to look at the wiki-code. The category tags will usually be at the far bottom of the article. If they're a close enough match, simply copy/paste the information in to the other article that needs categories. For more information, you can also check Wikipedia:Categorization FAQ. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions. :) --Elonka 19:54, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

- I'afraid. You're the policeman on our propriety mark. Who else Advanced Currency Market is the better actor to define the meaning of Advanced Currency Market. Again, ACM Forex is not a mark, and you don't have to redirect it to Advanced Currency Market. As we said, ACM Forex became an expression in the FOREX activity. Just go to google or anywhere else in the web. Search ACM Forex. See adwords advertising keywords for this expression. Everyone use this expression. So we think wikipedia is the best way to explicit the meaning of the origin of this expression.

-
- So please, write your own content and stay away of our contributions. And if you like FOREX activity, start trading with US :)
- I am not a scammer, I don't know really what you mean when you say that. Wiki articles should be well researched, site sources, and be of a neutral point of view. They are not suppoesd to be advertisements. Is there anyway we can resolve this issue without going to arbitration? Furthur please remember to sign your comments

[edit] Your contributions to the fair trade article
Hello,
Thank you for your contributions to the article "fair trade" - I am happy to see that other people are interested in the article. Sometimes I felt like only Mgunn (against) and I (for) were active on Wikipedia. As you might suspect, I disagree with most of your edits but I trust we will be able to reach a compromise the same way I did many times with Mgunn after countless exchanges.
First of all thank you for adding the reference to the Economist article and taking the lead in organizing the Criticism of fair trade page. I think these are great contributions that were lacking.
Second, I am sorry to say that I will have to revert the paragraph you added to the lead of the article. According to Wikipedia policy, this should be brief and only mention the various topics described in the article. It should establish context - and not make points one way or another. I don't know if you've noticed how the current state of the page reflects a carefully crafted compromise: first paragraph - general description "what is fair trade", second paragraph - "goal of fair trade", third paragraph - "who supports it", fourth paragraph - "who doesn't", fifth paragraph - size of the fair trade market. I think we have a pretty good, balanced, comprehensive lead here so I hope you will understand if we revert your changes.
Third, I think it is only revelant to move down the criticism section below the Key Fair Trade Principles and the "Fair trade vs. unfair trade" sections. Right now, readers don't even get to know what fair trade is or stands for before reading its criticism, which doesn't make much sense to me.
And finally, the paragraph you added to the criticism section is a redundant - Mgunn already wrote a paragraph describing the economic argument against fair trade. This adds to the problem that the page is getting too long (the page is 40 kps) and the criticism section needs to be summarized - I hope you can help with this. Please merge the two paragraphs together and summarize them before I clean this in the upcoming days (I'm sure you'd rather not have me do it anyway).
Thank you again for your contributions and I am looking forward to working with you. Vincentl 06:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
The article you wrote, A notes, is uncategorized. Please help improve it by adding it to one or more categories, so it may be associated with related articles. A stub marker or other template doesn't count - please put in an actual category in the article. By the way, the page was moved from A Notes, since article names are capitalized as normal text, rather than as names (of artickes). Eli Falk 12:14, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Did you intend to set up a second page with the same information? There are two, one with quotes surrounding the title and one without, but the content looks to be exactly the same. - No I did not and I was hopeing someone would come across that and help me fix it. I didn't even know how to get back to that page becuase when i searched for it with the " it sent me to the page i meant to create. Could you help me?--DrewWiki 22:15, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think if you go into the page and flag it at the top with db-author, with a note that it's a duplicate, an administrator will zap it for you. I couldn't get into it with the search function either, but if you go into Special:Lonelypages it's near the top of the list. That's how I found it. Good luck! Magichands23:29, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Agasse, Jacques-Laurent ~ The Playground, 1830, oil on canvas, Oskar Reinhart Collection, Winterthur1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Agasse, Jacques-Laurent ~ The Playground, 1830, oil on canvas, Oskar Reinhart Collection, Winterthur1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:04, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images
Hi Drewwiki. Thank you for your generous addition of images to the entries on artists. The placement of any materials which elaborate on and illuminate the text are welcome in moderation, must be properly captioned or titled to clarify their relevance to the entry, and work best if they do not appear like mere lists or repositories. That is my concern regarding your supplementations--Zurbarán, for instance, where the photo layout, sans captions, now dominates the article. The issue addresses both the intellectual aim of an encyclopedic entry, and the aesthetic appearance of that entry.
Given your interest, maybe you are an artist or art historian, and would be discerning enough to edit and choose the most important images for each article. Thanks again for your contributions, JNW 17:47, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- It occurs to me that it might be best to download your pictures to Wikimedia commons, from where editors may then choose specific, appropriate images--there are many artists for whom too few images exist in the commons, and your additions could represent a trove. JNW 17:53, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- I have to disagree. First Zurbarán I added only 4 or 5 of the images. Also, I think my and your vision diverage on the point of wikipedia. Unlike traditional encyclopedia's, wikipedia is not confined to space and thus there are no limits to the number of images you can put for an artist. In my opinion there is good reason for this. I agree that it might detract from the style of the page, but that is an issue that is superseded for the greater goal, having the sum of all human knowledge in one place. I want a elementary, middle, or high school student read about an artist, go to the wiki page and find all works that artist had done. It is possible that there should be a better way to display large quantities of images, but I believe getting the information on is the important part, how we deal with it when it gets to large is a secondary matter. What is your opinion? --DrewWiki 21:34, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- First: My mistake re: Zurbarán; most of the images were certainly there already.
-
-
- Agreed, that we disagree regarding Wikipedia's purpose. Indeed there are no vertical limits to the format, but that in itself does not justify a boundless collection of information. For the information to be useful, prioritizing is necessary. Even (or especially) "the sum of all human knowledge" requires editing. That's why, I suspect, the commons is used as an area where these images can be stored under the appropriate headings, viewed, and gathered from.
-
-
- If all the information on a subject, intellectual or visual, is offered without discrimination, then there is no art left to the entry (the same is true of a painting), and little encouragement for the hypothetical grade school student to continue searching. And if he or she has ADD, well, they'll be on to the next page in a heartbeat, anyway.
-
-
- In short, quality over quantity. Best wishes, JNW 22:39, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I do not posses the ability to rate the images I have because I was neither an art or art history major. Do you suggest I stop uploading or just up load to the commons, label them, and then let other people deal with them? Would you like to work with me on this issue. I have around 300 artists and about 7000 images left to be uploaded, granted not all of them have been dead for 100 years but many have. I would appreciate your input --DrewWiki 03:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- Uh oh, you called my bluff. I am intimidated by the number of images you possess (7000!). And though I am a painter and teacher, I am blissfully ignorant about most workings of the computer. I think that the best way to go would be to upload them to the commons, put captions on them, and place them under the proper headings (here I would also suggest you ask a more experienced art editor than I, someone like Wetman, Caravaggisti, Ewulp, or Celithimus, for their advice--you will find their contributions throughout the histories of artists' entries... maybe they'll say I'm all wrong). The other option is to continue placing pictures in articles, but even when there are a lot of them, I actually hate deleting images once they are up, either because of my own reticence in undoing what others have done, or out of respect for the visual image. That being said, if there is any way I can help, I would be glad to. It is clear that you have a great collection of photos, and that you are very generous. Best regards, JNW 03:56, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Invitation to participate in the Accountancy Task Force
If you are interested in working in collaboration with Wikipedia members on improving the article Accountancy, you will be pleased to hear that the Accountancy task force has been set up and is seeking participants who can assist with the article's overhaul. Perhaps you would like to provide verifiable content on this subject matter, in which case your input could be invaluable. Alternatively we are also seeking participants who can help with the systematic sorting of related accountancy articles into meaningful categories, an activity that does not require undertaking research but will nonetheless help improve the quality of the article's links. Either way, the task force would like to hear from you! Sohail Gogal 11:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
