[edit] Me

I'm male, Swedish and frightfully old. I turned ten five days after ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest. You do the math, but there it is.

Besides that I have a certain affinity for fiddling with Wikipedia's much too often incomplete discographies - combined with a distinct dislike of multinational record companies. Go figure.

Since Swedish is my mother tongue - Götebôsska to be precise - I automatically have a fair grasp of Norwegian, Danish and to a certain extent also German. I've studied French, Italian and I also happen to have an Oxford degree in English - although being Swedish and thus by definition shy and retiring I naturally wouldn't dream of bragging about any of this in my Wikipedia bio.

Since my career as a multimillion earning international pop star didn't take off quite as well as I'd hoped I now earn my living as a language teacher (English/French/Italian) and a freelance translator (Swedish/French/Italian), and I have been doing so for the past so and so years. I still dabble with music in my spare time just to keep the dream alive and the hubby laughing.

Although I've never ever had the pleasure of actually meeting Dorothy in real life I have pledged to remain a devoted and loyal friend of hers for the rest of my days - and I always keep my word.

In my contributions to Wikipedia I try my very best to be as creative and constructive as I possibly can - you are aware of the difference between the terms constructive, unconstructive and destructive, aren't you, fellow Wikipedians........?

As of April 15, 2008, I am apparently in the List of Wikipedians by number of edits at #2016. Officially a Wikiholic then I take it. Oh...bother.

PS. I'm something of an old sourcart. There's a bit of Swenglish humour for ya.

PPS.

To think that fun is simple fun
while earnest things are earnest
shows all too plain that neither one
thou truthfully discernest.

[edit] Fair use rationale for sound samples on Wikipedia

  • == Summary ==

Sound sample from the YEAR song "TITLE" by ARTIST.
Source : ARTIST - ALBUM (RECORD COMPANY, YEAR).
Songwriters: COMPOSERS.
Performed by: ARTIST
Copyright : RECORD COMPANY, YEAR.

  • ==Rationale of fair use for SONG TITLE LINK==

This is a sound sample from a commercial recording. Its inclusion here is claimed as fair use because:

  • It illustrates an educational article specifically about the song from which this sample was taken. The section of music used is discussed in the article in relation to the song's lyrics, musical and vocal style, and also contains part of the song's chorus.
  • It is a sample of no more than 30 seconds from a much longer recording, and could not be used as a substitute for the original commercial recording or to recreate the original recording.
  • It is of a lower quality than the original recording.
  • It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted sample of comparable educational value.
  • It is believed that this sample will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to distribute the original recording.

The audio sample is a copyrighted work. U.S. copyright laws apply to this work. Should a free or public domain sample be located, it should be used in place of this audio sample.
