Talk:Dream sign
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In light of links etc followed from Lucid dream, the definition seem rather narrow.
Reality checks could also be mentioned?
Actually the whole description seems off to me. What is mentioned here are just parts of a dream that are nothing, really.
Things are dreamsigns when they point out that you are in a dream. Very conspicuous signs usually include people or things that are at the wrong place or time (eg wrong age or in reality already deceased etc), clearly recognizing the scene as something you remember seeing in a dream before which happen in common recurring dreams or dream scenes and the oddly behaving objects and downright impossible things such as giant fantasy beasts or printed text jumping around.
When you wake up, one of the things you can do with dreams you may remember is to try to think them through and see how many glaringly obvious dreamsigns you managed to miss. It's funny what you manage to ignore and accept in a dream :)

[edit] Dying?
AFAIK dying in dreams is extremely uncommon, most people wake up before "dying" or don't really "die" in situations where they are supposed to.
- Probably. Although what anyone would interpret as dying and what the result would be is somewhat hard to imagine anyway. You could experience a dream where you die and end up in some afterlife, I suppose.
- Closest I ever came, I drowned and respawned on the ice afterwards. The scene had changed slightly (people were gone, it was darker). blades 13:53, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Video Games
Nice inclusion of video games in dreaming. When I first starting EverQuest, I had a dream nearly every night of being physically within the game. JeramieHicks (talk) 01:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of dream signs too long!
There are 3 different bullets relating to defecation in dreams... is that necessary? Someone more experienced with Wikipedia, please comment! - tbone (talk) 21:23, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
I took out a lot of stuff that seemed kind of ridiculous or deliberate vandalism. This is still nothing but original research.Zariane (talk) 16:50, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
