Drew Gress

Drew Gress (b. 1959) is an American jazz double-bassist born in Trenton, New Jersey and based out of New York City.
Gress was a cofounder of the group Joint Venture, who released three albums on Enja Records between 1987 and 1994. Following this he released an album in 1998 as a leader of a quartet, and around this time he also appeared in the group Paraphrase with Tim Berne and Tom Rainey. He has worked with Erik Friedlander, Fred Hersch, Don Byron, and Dave Douglas, and has performed in Europe, Asia, and South America. He served tenures as artist in residence at University of Colorado-Boulder and the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
