Magic.tcgplayer.com is a strategy website on the Wizards of the Coast trading card game Magic: The Gathering, better known as Brainburst. Brainburst is one of the most popular and influential Magic: The Gathering Websites, introducing decks which went on to have success in high-level competitive Magic.

In 2005, the site was rebranded as magic.tcgplayer.com. The URL brainburst.com still works, but is a redirect to magic.tcgplayer.com.

The site was started in the summer of 1997[1] and took open submissions for articles. Influential writers such as Mike Flores, Zvi Mowshowitz, and Kai Budde have written for Brainburst.

On March 18, 2003, Brainburst started a premium subscription service. [2]

After Brainburst was rebranded as magic.tcgplayer.com, they made all their articles available without paying for the premium service.

Brainburst has provided decks to the Magic community which have gone on to have success, including Makeshift Mannequin[3] that propelled both Olivier Ruel and Matej Zatlkaj to top eight finishes at Grand Prix Krakow 2007[4] and Kotaro Otsuka's at the 2007 World Championships [5]. Kuan-Kuan Tian's Bubble Hulk deck [6] won a top 8 Pro Tour Qualifier slot[7], and William Spaniel introduced the dredge deck [8] which led all Extended deck archetypes with Pro Tour Qualifier wins by the end of January 2008[9] and had taken twenty-one Pro Tour Qualifier top eight slots by the end of February 2008.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26] Through Brainburst, Mowshowitz introduced the viability of Psychatog as a competitive card [27], which Carlos Romao used in his 2002 World Championship deck [28].

magic.tcgplayer.com currently publishes approximately four to five articles per week, running one article each weekday. Several featured writers were selected from the TCGPPrentice contest[29].
