[edit] My apologies

Sorry man, there is still a whole lot of things I don't yet know. I only created an account to start the SPLC page so yeah. I will bow to your wisdom

Cheers Campbell 11:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

You're older than me :) Respect your elders :) I'm just letting you know, so that you don't do something drastic later on and get indefinitely blocked. --Draicone (talk) 06:05, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yay SPLC Page!

I'm guessing you wrote it -pokepoke-. It's really good and up to date! And looks like you do a lot of work around here, so good job. :D I guess I put the four tildes here? Chikken 10:49, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop taking credit for what you didn't do

The two people who actually did write this page would actually like some credit. Plus I would like to know who you are. Mr Evans talked to myself (Campbell) and Jeremey about the copyright breach and I will now be keeping a very close eye on what happens. I would also like to know who put the derogatory information on the page. I quite like Mr Rudolph and Mr Evans, they are both great guys. And thank you for editing some stuff on the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scramcam (talkcontribs)

[edit] Dear Draicone

This Barnstar is presented to

Draicone
for his beautiful words, his great kindness and wonderful friendship -
Thank you, my dear D! :)
Phaedriel

Dear Draicone, how are you doing? I just returned from work, and tho I'm terribly sleepy, I'll try to reply as many messages as I possibly can before resting for a moment (the backlog is enormous - ahhh!) and you're #1 in my list! ;) Hun, I needed to drop by and thank you so much for everything you've done for me in the last days, from taking part you-know-where and your enthusiasm, to (and most specially) for your beautiful birthday wishes and your friendly words. They meant so much to me, that I can't express it properly. To think we met at the beginning of your wiki-career, and now, look at you! One of the most famous vandal-fighters currently active is my friend, yay! ;) Dear D, thank you, for everything - I can't say this too many times, nor loud enough. I hope we continue to be friends for as long as we live. You are awesome! :) BIG hugs, Phaedriel The Wiki Soundtrack! - 11:59, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the award, thats two you've given me so far :) Still, it should be me thanking you. For everything you've helped me out with, for all the important guidance you've given me, for all the unwritten rules of Wikipedia you've taught me. In fact, not just me, but hundreds of Wikipedians, as you'll no doubt realise from your RFA. Congratulations on setting WP:100, WP:200 and total RfA records - you beat CSCWEM, and there is no doubt in my mind that you deserve it. Thankyou for everything you've given the community. --Draicone (talk) 06:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SPLC Page

I'm sorry, but the stuff I added was undisputably true.. Well okay there may have been some poetic license :P I'm a former student there. Are you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sp0kk (talkcontribs)

Actually, what content you added to the article (St Peters Lutheran College) was totally untrue, and while not revealing my affiliation with the school, I can guarantee you I have an up to date and current knowledge on the school. In addition, linking to third party, unrelated sites with explicit content is totally inappropriate for Wikipedia, and I ask that you refrain in future. You may be banned from editing if you do not. Also, remember to sign your comments with four ~'s (tildes, look to the top left of your keyboard, below 'Esc') so that your username and the current time is automatically added for everyone's reference. --Draicone (talk) 11:04, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA

Thanks for your support in my RfA, it's appreciated!

EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME 13:58, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I've always supported an RfA if I felt the user could use the mop, and the user wouldn't abuse the mop, even if it means going against consensus. I have some general standards, but as always I will ignore them when I feel appropriate, and your RfA was one such case. My vote won't make a difference, maybe my length explanation will convert a few would be opposes, but either way I suggest you work towards diversification in the Wikipedia namespace and helping out with some wikiprojects before your next RfA, which should work out well in a couple of months. --Draicone (talk) 06:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your birthday message

Thanks for all the wonderful banners
To the people who have wished me a happy birthday: I appreciate the show of appreciation for me and I hope I can pass it on to others--Chili14 21:55, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikification

I hope Ladybirdintheuk won't mind me replying to a message you left on his talk page. SUre your welcome to help out! LBITUK has been working on a draft of how the project page will look here so anything you can add go for it!!

I think it's looking ok so far and I guess the next step would be to make it all official and move it to the wikipedia namespace.

oh and don't forget to add your name to the participants table ot the bottom of the page!!!! --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 21:59, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

yeah I know he has been working on it as a draft in his user space (well we have) - so if you want to move it to the wikipedia namespace. Although it might be best to wait for LBITUK to agree. That said it might just be better developed there anyway. Go ahead and move it :D. And yes add whatever you think would be appropriate! (and recruiting members would be VERY useful too). --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 22:04, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello - No problem with you moving it, and the new banners are great :) We just need to get promoting the thing now. I'll get on with that later today/tomorrow if I have time. (I have loads of wikipedia time during the week because my current job doesn't actually seem to expect me to do any real work - during the weekend, I tend to have my time taken up with other things!) Btw, I'm a she, not a he;) -Ladybirdintheuk 14:41, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Power ballad

Uhhh you messaged me for deleting something that was totally wrong. Someone changed all the songs for the "VH1's top 25 power ballads". I think it's better to make it so there is nothign at all rather than a whole bunch of untrue facts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.29.119.9 (talkcontribs)

No matter what you think is better, I challenge you to find me a hardcopy encylopedia with "Some moron screwed this all up, someone should fix this." listed in an article (or similar). Your comment in the article was inappropriate, so I removed it. That's what wikis are about. You can revert my revert, but you risk starting an edit war and breaking 3RR. In this situation, if you felt the need to revert my revert then I would try and explain to you what Wikipedia is, what it is not, why I reverted your edits in the first place and why it makes sense not to start an edit war and break 3RR. Please refrain from making such edits, as blanking is against Wikipedia policy, and while your edit may no longer fall into that category, referring to Wikipredians as morons and requesting an article change in the article itself is not a good idea. I suggest that you move your comment to the article's talk page and see if someone is prepared to fix it. --Draicone (talk) 23:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Ummm would you like a link to the actual list VH1 compiled? You can change it and stuff if you want. Cause the one some person changegd it to, wasn't even relatively close to the real one. I was just tryin to clean it up. I was gonna redo it the way it should have been done, but coudln't really remember it, sorry. Oh nevermind, I'll just go fix it right now, so you can see how far off that guy was with what he put. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.29.119.9 (talkcontribs)
Thankyou for correcting the list, however I stand by my actions, as in my opinion your initial edit was vandalism, and I revert vandalism on sight. The warning is relatively meaningless, first level warnings for vandals is generally ignored after a week or so on IP editing anyway as it is most likely a different user. In future, I would highly advise you ensure your contributions are suitable for an encyclopaedia, or they will be mercilessly edited (and most likely reverted) very quickly. --Draicone (talk) 09:11, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User page vandalism

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage, its much appreciated. --Draicone (talk) 21:14, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey, no problem, Draicone. That's what I'm here for. :) --Firsfron of Ronchester 21:18, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] You've got a Thank you card!

PS. I got your pointers regarding the possible sockpuppet, hun. I'm on it, don't worry - those particular ones seem to have stopped for now, so if any new activity arises, just whistle my way and I'll block them before you can say "I'll nominate Draicone for adminship in just a matter of weeks if he wants to" ;) Hugz! [edit] August 6th, 2006 WP:RETF update

Note you are getting this because you are signed up on the RETF spamlist
Hey guys. Before I do anything, I have to thank all these people who have helped me make RETF more bug-free via my challenge to them on the Language noticeboard. Some were redundant lines, and some were words that probably never appear in Wikipedia, but as I said, I don't want any false positives in RETF.

THANKS GUYS! Now for the fixes and suggestions put on the RETF page:

  • 'behaviour' is a legitimate UK English spelling --Guinnog
  • 'councellor' to 'councillor' when 'counsellor' could be the intended word. --mattbr30
  • "Costal" is a real word, meaning "related to the rib" —Mets501 (talk)
  • 'judgemental' to 'judgmental'. According to my dictionary, both are equally acceptable. mattbr30
  • 'Adaptions' to 'Adaptations'. JoeSmack Talk
  • repond and variants -> respond --Guinnog

[edit] RETF development

I don't know what to say really. Something has come up and I might not be able to continue to update RETF after the next week or so.......I have put in countless sleepless nights of just me, my computer, and a case of Rockstar energy drink working on this. It has made me feel that I really am a devoted Wikipedian.

I have developed RegExTypoFix from a little hobby of mine into a full SourceForge project. I told a friend that I’ve worked 50 development hours in all. I have a really bad sense of time, but I’m sure it was more. I won’t lie, I am very proud of my work. Hopefully this will be used long after I leave.

To ensure that, I need a person/people to become admins on the RETF project. I don’t ask that you do anything but fix any errors that people report. There is a bit of a process to doing this, but I can teach you. Please send me a message on my talk page. Please my close friends only please, I hope you understand that I want to 100% trust this person. However, I might just hand it off to User:Bluemoose, as if he didn’t have enough on his plate =D.

[edit] Download + more

AWB now loads RETF everytime it loads, this box is no longer needed.

To keep an eye on RETF, you can use {{User:Mboverload/RegExTypoFix/updatebox}} and it will produce the box you see here =D. When AWB updates, I can turn it green on command =P

Extract Typos.xml from the zip file either using the zip extraction tool provided with XP or use 7zip.

Under the new system that Martin (User:Bluemoose) developed Typos.xml is separate from the settings file. This way it can be easily swapped out and doesn't interfere with your own personal find and replace settings. Put it in the AWB directory. It is loaded automatically when you start AWB.

In addition, each Typos.xml file comes coded with a version number. Perhaps in some future release AWB will be able to check to see if there's an update for you!

The latest version is not built into AWB, you will have to download it here Just updated a few minutes ago. --mboverload@ 01:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Please see User:Draicone/Userpage redesign. Daniel.Bryant 07:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Finished

I completed your userpage. Now you just need to add content that is currently missing, and wasn't on the old page. If you need to "rescue" anything from previous versions, this is the last version before I added the new design. Oh, and I don't want any credit placed on your userpage, as it is GDFL and I feel that detracts from it. But feel free to give me a barnstar or whatever :D

Oh, and I added a link to a lot of icons if you don't like the one I added there.

If you ever need any help, with your userpage or anything else, just post me a message on my user page. Daniel.Bryant 07:56, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shortcut box

Yeah I think your probably right. I was just sort of playing about with it! :D Change it back --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 10:59, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Revision in you userpage history

Hi Draicone, I peeped into your request into your request on Essjay's talk page & I couldn't resist butting in :P & so I have hidden the revision in question. Administrators can't permanently delete revisions like oversights can, but we can hide revisions in a way that no one but administrators can read (& that too the ones who know where to look ;) ) Essjay can oversight the revision if he wants to. If this was something unexpected & undesirable, I wholeheartedly apologize. Regards --Srikeit (Talk | Email) 13:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] um

how do u catch people's bad or good edits so fast. and, if i change something to a positive (yet wrong) fact, how do u validate its truth so fast?? this site is ridiculously advanced beyond any human achievement of all time. you guys are crazy good nerds

-thatguy —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.172.183.223 (talkcontribs)

We have our own methods of catching vandalism as it happens. Unfortunately, they require us to be present and online at the time of the incident, but with hundreds of vandal fighters this isn't an issue. We can quickly preview an edit and revert it if it is inappropriate, past offenders are generally monitored (I'll check your contributions in an hour or so, possible have somebody else monitor them after that, after the Elijah Wood incident - don't worry about it, bad vandals don't care, a minority look up and listen when we warn them, like you have). In this way, and by multi-tasking (I'm currently spellchecking articles and contributing to projects as well) we can keep bad edits hidden. We can't actually validate facts, but anything suspicious is removed. --Draicone (talk) 07:12, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] vandals

Draicone. Have you ever tried to get the site locked by the admin of wikipedia to prevent unnesisary changes others have made Random080506 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Random080506 (talkcontribs)

No, because it defeats the purpsoe of a wiki, and Wikipedia in general. Wikipedia wouldn't be where it is today if anonymous users hadn't contirbuted to it, and this 'admin of wikipedia' you speak of would most likely be Jimbo Wales. When we let anyone edit, there are bound to be people who abuse the privelage. I am merely helping correct abuse after the fact as a vandal fighter. Having to revert vandalism is a small price to pay for giving everyone access to all this information and simplifying the process of contributing. --Draicone (talk) 09:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
