[edit] 50megs

50megs has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this company might not yet be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations) for the relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. NickelShoe (Talk) 15:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. I can handle the "i hate you" and "why'd you delete my article" messages. I just think it's important to communicate with people. NickelShoe (Talk) 14:51, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Internet slang

Thank you for your contributions to this article. However, if you do not supply a reliable source, they will likely be removed. Recently, the article had grown too long with terms which were either made up, specific to one topic only (such as BJAODN only means something on Wikipedia), and otherwise unnecessary terms, so now we ask that users provide reliable sources for their edits. From what I saw that you added, it looks like you were trying to improve Wikipedia, so for that I thank you. At the moment, though, this article is somewhat unstable, so I thought I might explain why your edits might be removed in the near future. Timrem 05:55, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Internet slang

Hi Dragix. Thanks for the enthusiasm on List of Internet slang. Did you see that some (indeed most, at the moment) of the entries have some stuff after them that gives a proper citation to a good, reliable souce (WP:RS is good reading for this)? This makes Wikipedia a properly reliable work, rather than just a collection of acronyms people saw lying around once. It's important also to be sure that a source is properly reliable - meaning that it has reliable editorial controls and is not just a collection of random acronyms someone saw lying around once... There are some suggestions you've spotted on the talk page, but there is need for some care over just choosing anything. Thanks. -Splash - tk 02:01, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

YW! Yes I did notice. H/O before you start nuking the list again. You caught me in the middle of editing. I'm in the process of adding the references in, I added the words first so that I'd remember what people are expecting to see when they go to the List of Internet slang. BTW, those references are not random (MB is actually much better than Dictionary.Com). My professors loved them. Dragix 02:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Cool. I wonder if you could drop a note on Talk:List of Internet slang about why those online collections are reliable? Are they/have they been reviewed and found to be good? Are they taken from somewhere that is known to be? Or are they, like AcronymFinder written by an organisation without particular reputation or necessarily standards? (That's why I think AF is not reliable enough for use here, by the way.) -Splash - tk 02:19, 13 June 2006 (UTC) PS. What's 'MB'?

Good point. Even if AcronmynFinder was 100% factual, AF is unreliable because its sole purpose is to list all acronyms, slang and non-slang. The same goes with AbbreviationZ... MB is my retarded way of saying "Merriam-Webster Online" (yes, typo)... Dragix 02:33, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Right. M-W is a fantastic find, and it's free! -Splash - tk 02:34, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anti-admin

LOL, you can't "steal" it, it's public property so everyone can use it. I "stole" it from someone else myself. My reasons... eh... just bad experiences with a few super-powered admins a long time ago, though things are fine now. I also don't trust the whole admin system. However, I might simply be jealous and secretly want to be an admin, too, which I guess I could be one day if I tried. As you can see, it's complicated :) Mad Jack 20:29, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject South Park

I have thought of creating a WikiProject for South Park since it is now near its' 10th anniversary and has more articles than ever. I feel we could all do the following things through this project:

  • Cleanup any short/poorly written/unformatted articles
  • Merge/lengthen the many character articles
  • Improve the South Park main page

I have seen your South Park fan template and wondered if you were interested in joining. If so reply to my talk page and I'll get back to you as quick as I can. Thanks, Mr. Garrison

[edit] White Tomb Image

I had to deleted the chapter artwork of Dumbledore's tomb, because you had licensed it wrongly by tagging it under book cover, also in Harry Potter articles, there should be no chapter art used because it's not considered cannon: It's only shown in the American editions of the books and there is no licensing tag available for chapter art. I know you are new, so am I. If you want to know what types of licensing tags can be used go to the Tagging Images section of the Fair Use page. - Phnx2ashes 18:45, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible identity theft

I was looking in the trophy case of Knowpedia, and I noticed that both of Knowpedia's barnstars were awarded to him by non-existent users. It seems that he created user pages for them just so that he could give himself some awards. The third award on the page is a Golden WikiAward that he claims you gave to him on July 24. However, looking through your contribution history, I couldn't find any entry where you gave an award to Knowpedia.

Anyway, I think Knowpedia might have impersonated you in order to give himself an award, and I thought I should bring it to your attention. If I am mistaken, and you actually did give a Golden WikiAward to him, then I apologize. Stebbins 21:03, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

It's okay. It's legitimate. :) I gave it to him a long time ago. I don't know why it doesn't show up on my contributions. Thanks for your concern. It's very good-citizen of you. Dragix 21:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

So you really think the orphanbot is a good idea? i'd like to know what kind of magical tagging devices you use which prevents your images from being selected for deletion. it's done nothing but cause mayhem for the majority of wikipedia contributors. Majik43 18:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Who is orphanbot? I gave the award to Knowpedia for his Conebot. It's a robot written in Perl that just goes around tagging or removing illegitimate images (images with no categorized description/source), but before it does that, it gives the user a fair warning of deletion first. It does not prevent images from being deleted, almost the opposite. But if the image actually IS legitimate then the uploader has the right to know because he/she put time and effort in to contribute legitimately. It's a simple "innocent before proven guilty" theory... And if that is what you call "mayhem", consider yourself lucky to have never acknowledged 3-Dimentional mayhem. [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:EdwardSpeleers.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:EdwardSpeleers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] WikiProject Harry Potter roll-call

Hi there. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Harry Potter participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "potentially inactive" list. If you still consider yourself an active WikiProject Harry Potter editor, please move your name from the Potentially inactive list to the Active Contributors list. You may also wish to add {{User WP Harry Potter}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Conversely, if you do not wish to be considered a member of the WikiProject, leave your name where it is and it will be moved to the Inactive Contributors section. If you wish to make a clean break with the Project you may move your name to the Known to have left section. Many thanks.

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GlennPlummer.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GlennPlummer.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:49, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
