I'm 32 and Canadian, and engaged to the most glorious gorgeous geek on the face of the planet.

I've got Proofreader's Eye, and a predisposition to rewrite other people's sentences for elegance. Also, I have stairs in my house.

Before I decided to go ahead and register, I did a lot of anonymous work tidying up more articles than I can recall - sometimes I'd just hit Random Page a few times until I saw something I could fix quickly. Some articles needed a bit more than just tidying - shadowman and Archbishop of Riga are two that come to mind.

I also contributed bits of information here and there - the punnish origin of the word Gallium, the gruesome secret of the Squadron Supreme compilation, Alan Moore's partial blindness, a lot of details about the Spectre, the name of the last soldier to be killed during the First World War, the models for the Guardians of the Universe, nearly the whole Herb Alpert entry, stuff about Graham Chapman's autobiography and memorial, thoughts about the parable of the Good Samaritan...

[edit] Breaking News

On October 2, 2005, JIP... he, um... he nominated me for adminship. I am stunned and flattered.

I actually thought that the most praise/notice I'd get would be maybe a barnstar .

[edit] News flash!

As of October 9, 2005, I am an administrator. This means that I am now the target of frustrated twelve-year-olds whose vanity pages I deleted.

[edit] Recent developments

  • On November 2, 2005, at 7.06 PM, I got my very first impersonator!
  • This page has been vandalized <more times than I feel like counting>.

Oh, hey. Let's see what pages I've created (and here's a secret - sometimes when I create articles on really obscure topics, I sort of hope that people will nominate them for deletion, so that I can then prove their notability).

Once upon a time, I wrote a friendly little Talmudic-style rant on why we might think someone is a sockpuppet in AfD. I like it too much to let it languish in the limbo of archived AfD debates (plus, this way I can point people to it).

Woo! Editcount!

[edit] Thank you notes

DS - thank you again for your help with the images. There is so much to learn here - couldn't do it without your help. Ericdohio 00:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

A Note To Newbies: While I do very much appreciate getting thank-you notes from people who I've welcomed, it's just tidier all around if you leave your message on my talk page - after all, that's what it's for! Thanks in advance.

  • DS - I want to thank you not only for the welcome, but also for directing me to the right places to help reduce my learning curve in regards to all things Wiki. I feel like the rest of the newbies here...completely out of place and a bit lost. Thanks again for everything. Ericdohio 03:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello there. Thank you for your welcome msg. And what a nice surprise you being a Canadian. I recently returned to the Netherlands from a long stay (35yrs) there. I am Canadian-Dutch or do you say Dutch-Canadian? Europe is wonderful just as Canada, both a delight to live in. Well, re Wikepedia.I have undertaken to copy-edit the al-Razi article ( badly needed) and am almost 3/4 done, I'd say. I am studying the Hermetica('technical' as well as 'philosophical') and it covers in depth Alchemy/Medicine/Astrology/Magic and ancient hermetical esoteric texts. That's how I ended up with al-Razi while doing some research. I've taken the Tutorial, however, how do you underline? Thanks for any help and so long. From sergiolerner:

Thank you for the deletion of the page I wrote. I 've read "What Wikipedia is not" and I agree with you my article should not be pulished (at least not by myself). --Sergiolerner 17:59, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much, my friend, for alerting the Wikipedia readership to the fact that the alleged Buddhist term, "papayana" (for Mahayana Buddhism) is an "apparent hoax". The right verdict has been reached! All best wishes to you. From Tony. TonyMPNS 15:10,
