Popularity of creative changes
The statement:
"This has led fans of the original Japanese version of the series to dislike FUNimation's English dub, while those who have seen the FUNimation dub first prefer the creative changes and believe it to be the definitve version of the series."
is both sweeping and baseless. It should be changed to say either that some fans who viewed the FUNimation dub first prefer it over the original Japanese, or that people who are fans of the dub prefer the creative changes. Obviously not everyone who watched the FUNimation version first thinks it's the best. In either case there ought to be a citation. Meliadoul 01:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
The biggest mess ups in the dub were the plotholes and 'censored' information. Such as Tien saying "Wait till my arm grows back"... in fact, the shortening of Tenshinhan's name is a topic as well. Some of the lines in DBZ are quite corny, but I think they did a decent translation for the most part.
I saw no reason to wait for citation for statements such as the ones mentioned here. They are opinions plain and simple and have no place here. I have altered the section to contain only what was changed, and not what some fans might think of these changes. -78.60.68.149
there's already a section on some wikipedia article about anime concerning dubs vs subs. i don't think we need to re-iterate that on every anime's article.65.43.211.143 06:59, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Shoop Da Whoop!
Should the Shoop Da Whoop meme be added to this page? JayKeaton 06:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- No. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
That was random..........what does it have to do with DBZ?Halo3master5000 11:17, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- AFAIK some of the "Shoop da whoop" memes have Semi-Perfect Cell (+17) firing a laser from his mouth when saying that ("imma chargin' mah lazah!"). -- RattleMan 18:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
3rd season
Why is the assumption that it will only have the freeza saga?TheClownPrinceofCrime 16:52, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Well as of now(July 19th 2007) The dragonballz website is advertising the season 3 boxset and yes the boxset is only the 33 episodes of the Freeza saga which will be released September 18.
protection
will someone please protect this page so vandals will keep from putting false information?TheClownPrinceofCrime 01:16, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- We don't protect articles unless they are currently being attacked by heavy vandalism, which this article is not. // DecaimientoPoético 01:25, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Where is Android 17 on the cast list?
Android 17 isn't on there, or his voice actor Chuck Hurber
Season/Saga Names
Hi I was wondering if we should call the names seasons instead of sagas because Funimation has released them as seasons not sagas. Should we rename these? I don't want to do it if anyone else disagrees, what do others think? Thanks User:Xlaer.
- no they should be left that way. and furthermore, funimation isn't releasing sagas as seasons, last time i checked the season 2 box set has 2 "sagas" on it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.43.211.143 (talk • contribs).
Recent edit warring
It appears that the recent edit warring is about the inclusion of "this is the first funimation dub to include cursing.", with User:TheManWhoLaughs wanting to add the content and User:3bulletproof16 and User:Momusufan opposing its inclusion. In situations as clear-cut as this, my understanding is that Wikipedia:Verifiability carries the day. If there's no source for a statement, it can be challenged and removed. Is there any hope for sourcing this statement to a reliable source?--Chaser - T 19:18, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Here's the facts can anyone state a episode where cussing is in? I have seen EVERY episode of DBZ multiple times. I cant provide a source but they cant provide one saying its wrong. I dont see how it isnt in the article. When i first put it in it was there for close to 3 weeks without disruption. But as soon as some one disagrees, he gets his buddies to help him keep it out. It deserves in the article.TheManWhoLaughs 20:19, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Verifiability means the burden is on the inserter of a statement to prove it's true, not on the people opposing it to prove it's false. If you can't verify something, it can be removed at any time. WP:V wins. For example, it would work the exact same way should User:3bulletproof16 decide to insert a statement saying "This is not the first funimation dub to include cursing". If he can't prove it's true when someone disputes it, it can be removed. --Deskana (talk) 20:22, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Anybody who watches DBZ knows its never been done.TheManWhoLaughs 20:30, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- You still need a source to make a statement about it either way. This project is meant to build an encyclopedia from primary and secondary sources. Assembling information from watching the episodes doesn't qualify.--Chaser - T 20:34, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused. Which dub are we talking about? The first one had a slight redub of the first few eps. I can check and see if any light swearing was present. The newer redub has swearing. But don't the Cell/Buu DVDs have some damn's here and there on the uncut home releases? I know not in the TV broadcast. I don't have any way of checking into that, really. Onikage725 20:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
We are talking about the Funimation dubs. No they dont have swearing. Theirs no point in arguing with them bc they want the article to be incomplete and inaccurate. TheManWhoLaughs 20:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Or, put differently, you're not going to get your way until you provide a source. It's that simple. You can attribute it to people wanting inaccurate articles all you want. That doesn't change the truth of the matter, nor will it make everyone ignore WP:V. --Deskana (talk) 20:43, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
WP:V says you have to have a source however, it is impossible to get a source for something that isnt on the freaking internet!TheManWhoLaughs 20:45, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have heard rumors of ancient buildings, filled with books, that in years long past people once ventured into in search of information. Perhaps they still exist.--Chaser - T 20:47, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
But something in a library about Dragonball z is still not helpful.TheManWhoLaughs 20:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes it is. Books are references. --Deskana (talk) 20:50, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- But their are no books on this subject. duh. TheManWhoLaughs 20:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- blink* WHICH FUNimation dub? There's like... ok the old one from the Saban days, the in-house dub, it's Ultimate Uncut redub, the current redubbing of S3 for the new box sets, the Canadian dub (which I believe FUNi ultimately holds the license to, a UK dub... Onikage725 20:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- The dub on the season box sets is the same as the dub that appeared on the Ultimate Uncut DVDs and on Cartoon Network, just with the Japanese music instead of the English music. Takuthehedgehog 01:17, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
-
- Not entirely true. The Ultimate Uncut editions only went through the "Namek Saga" (i.e the stuff previously released in censored format on DVD by Pioneer). Season 3 is also being redubbed (or partially redubbed anyway). The original in-house Cpt. Ginyu was fired, and he was the narrator. I don't know if they redubbed Ginyu, but the narrator was replaced with Kyle Herbert, the current narrator. Some character's have at least been re-recorded as well (notably Vegeta- his original performance was clearly trying to emulate Brian Drummond, and the current dialogue is more in line with his current interpretation of the character). Onikage725 02:03, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've definitely heard "hell" as a derogatory term a couple of times, but come one, only a couple of times. And it was only in the unedited eps. I remember hearing Chi Chi say "Who the hell are you?" in the begining of Ocean's Dead Zone. I think I remember either Vegeta or Piccolo saying it in season 1 as well on the new box sets. I wouldn't really call it cursing tho.... --VorangorTheDemon 01:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
-
- Yeah the show's not *that* hardcore with swearing anyway. Uncut dub or Japanese, you're not going deeper than hell, shit, or damn. Noone's dropping f-bombs (unless of course you have an old AnimeLabs sub). Onikage725 02:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- For the record, they don't even say the word "crap" in the dub, let alone terms like "hell" and "damn". Did a notable voice provider like Chris Sabat say those words in the re-dub? Lord Sesshomaru

-
-
- I don't know if it was Sabat, but I know I heard it last week when I was watching my season 1 box set. It was "hell", and it might have been Nappa. And I consider "shit" pretty deep. --VorangorTheDemon 03:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Vegeta says sonofabitch in the second season.TheManWhoLaughs 13:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- TMWL and Vorangor, if you want to disregard WP:V and insert some form of this line into the article, I don't really have a problem with it. It's not ideal, but it's better than edit-warring. However, understand that if anyone challenges it, it just gets removed. That's the way this policy works. You can use it the same way if someone claims a different episode without sources and you think that claim is inappropriate.--Chaser - T 14:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Live action movie and DVD releases
There is no source for the information posted concerning the live action movie, and a quick search on Google brings no results for what was quoted. It also says in the article that volumes 10-12 of the Vegeta Saga, and the Namek Saga were cancelled, yet they have been released on DVD for over a month.Vegetable4 18:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Its referencing something different.BlueShrek 18:12, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
There is still no source for the information quoted, in fact the source was an April fools day thing at this forum: http://z9.invisionfree.com/liveactionanime/index.php?showtopic=3932 .
There is no DBZ live action movie. Therefore I'm removing that info. 61.95.65.186 07:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
20th Century Fox do have plans to make the movie. Therefore we should have an article on it.

They had something about the movie on the official Dragon Ball Z site a couple years ago, but then they said that they contacted Fox and Fox stated that they'd never said that. That was left on the site until they started updating it with movie stuff. So there you have it. Ryu Ematsu
Here is a website about the Dragon Ball Z movie. Please do not remove the live action movie part. IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! http://www.themovieinsider.com/m685/dragonball-z/ This is the proof, again please do not remove this information about the live action. IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED.
- http://www.myfavoritegames.com/dragonball-z/Info/LiveActionMovie.htm IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, THE LIVE ACTION MOVIE WILL NOT BE MADE. TYPING IN CAPS MAKES YOU LOOK COOL AND LETS PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOU'RE TOTALLY FOR REAL. can we stop arguing about a movie which would be awful now? 68.255.174.7 16:51, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Someone butchering the articles
I have recently noticed a decline in almost all the DBZ related articles, they are too short and contain mostly useless and boring information , not to mention someone has been getting rid of most of the pictures. The articles were fairly decent before but now they are appauling.
Also I have noticed many of the character articles have dissappeared in favor of putting them on lists, what gives? User: jwhyte1
