[edit] Merge
I agree that Comet Kumorle and New Vegeta should be merged into this or other articles, as there's no point in such lesser pieces of information having a page to itself.Voice of Treason 03:23, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree SSJ 5 11:55, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Voice of Treason. Both of these planets only appear within the context of this movie. - Plough | talk to me 23:13, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Continuity
When I first saw this movie it was a very low quality straight from Japan with subtitles. There was a narrated lead in to the movie that specifically places it in the ten days prior to the Cell Games. Has anyone else seen this?Rayfire 22:33, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
I've seen that too. But it still doesn't make this movie canon, since everyone was too busy with Cell to go to another planet. Also, if that were true since the Saiyans survived a near death experience, wouldn't they come back stronger than Cell? My point is that it ain't canon.--suit-n-tie 03:31, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
They wouldn't necessarily be stronger than cell since they did train in the hyperbolic time chamber and even after that cell was still much stronger.Daemonic Rite 08:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah also shouldn't both Goku and Gohan have been in their Super Saiyan, Full Power forms instead of their normal forms. Weird isn't it?
I,m not to sure. According to Wikipedia cell announced the tournament 9 days before therefore if broly was 10 days before the tournament was announced they wouldn't have this form yet but then again cell may have metioned after they came out of the time chamber. I haven't watched DBZ in ages and therefore can't actually remeber how many days after cell fought trunks that he announced the tournament but i am pretty sure that they attained this form after cell announced the tournament. You know, There is still a chance that this movie may be canon due to this article, Dragon Ball Wiki's article, and possibly even the movie itself explicitly stating that the whole story of the movie was written chiefly by the creator of the series itself, *gasp* Akira Toriyama! And besides which, in regards to continuity hiccups in the movie, It isn't the first time Akira Toriyama messed up continuity wise with his own story. If I recall correctly, he ALSO added in the scene where Bardock confronted Frieza in space several feet above Vegeta in the climax of the Bardock special in the Frieza Saga, which would cause a later plot contradiction where Frieza tells SSJ Goku that whileas Frieza can breathe in space, Goku cannot even in his SSJ state when he tries to blow up Planet Namek.

This movie, like most of the others, isn't canon - heck, it said so on Wikipedia not too long ago (but this article has gone through a lot of changes). It just uses the Z Fighters at about the power levels they had during the Cell games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.26.70 (talk) 23:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia ALSO said that Akira Toriyama wrote the story of most of the Movies. Also, the source for this is in the credits, so if Akira Toriyama is credited as the chief story writer in most of the movies Credits, then they are canon, end of story.

I saw in my DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 game in the prolouge that the narrator says "Taking a much-needed break before their fight with the androids..." Well, I think it meant to say "taking a much-needed break before their fight with Cell...", because Gohan was Super Saiyan at this time. However, I cannot believe how they just didn't take into account about the timeline and the whole Cell Saga. Goku and Gohan were Super Saiyans constantly, they never turned back normal, how would they have the time to travel to another planet and also...I can't believe the plot-holes in this movie. I won't argue, but maybe we should just watch the movie and enjoy it, despite all the unbelievable plot-holes in the story. Son Gohan (talk) 19:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Broly Series, if any
After seeing Broly the first time and his movies, I still think that somewhere along the way he is considered apart of the Dragon Ball Z Series. The general part of his coming-in-play is during the Cell Games when Goku and his friends were taking a break from all their training before they battle Cell. That would be the best time for Broly to come in. (Although this is may own view of how I see the movies)
Out of all the forms that Goku, Trunks, Goten, Gohan, and Vegeta managed to get to, Broly at the time of the Cell games was way stronger than they were and probably could've been more stronger than Goku if he kept letting his anger push him like it always did. --Zhang Liao 04:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Broly was at his most powerful when he was in lssj transformation and he didn't actually need to be angry to enter this form. Goku only beat him because he combined the power of himself and everyone who had joined in the fight therefore making your statement inaccurate. You would have to say that he could have been stronger than goku when he was combined with everyone elses power because if you are talking about goku on his own he would be defeated without any effort from BrolyDaemonic Rite 09:01, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
I know this is old. I don't understand how, even though they had all lost miserabely to Broly, combining what little power they had left could beat him. And Vegeta gave less than everyone else. Inconsistency!
I have actually heard that somewhere in a discuusion probably here on wikipedia that goku also took energy from broly and that is why his hand lit up green whenever broly went to punch him actually its in the article underneath Daemonic Rite 10:36, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] just specualtion
but many argue that the ending sucked, Broly being defeated by the TOEI punch and all. but
if you have a copy, take note of theese things:
1: when Broly delivered what was ment to be the final blow, and goku stops it, most tend to think that it was because it was then vegeta's power arrived. but, just before the hit, lime green energy forms in goku's palm. when the punch connect, both his and Broly's arm light up in lime green Ki
2: after the "leeching" preformed by goku from Broly, THEN he powers up, and note here, just at this moment, Broky's hair is golden, as is goku's. but when he powers up, Goku's hair turns Lime green, like Broky's. shortly a stunned Broly asks himself where he got all that energy. I'll tell you where. Broky's energy production was unlimited, he produced so much energy that he didn't know what to do with it. goku leeched a ton of energy from him, when his punch hit. adding to the energy he got from his friends. Broly didn't know, cause even though goku drained such enormous amounts, Broly just produced more to fill the void. he could never tell.
3: now goku puts all the energy he has gathered in one punch. when he connects, we can see that Broky's inside is actually pure energy. he is practically made out of Ki energy. and goku's punch filled with his own, Broly's and his friends Ki caused an explosion, the spent Goku transported his friends away and the wounded Broly got to safety. as he could not defend himself from the comet in his current state (he said so himself, he did not care that the comet was about to hit, it could not kill him)
this makes more sence than him leeching energy from his friends alone, and does explain why broly is supprised. after all, as strong as he was, he surley knew that all of their combined powers was not that great.
- You're not really helping the article.--SUIT 23:54, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
well, thats one of the reasons i posted, would it even be worth adding this, or would it just be removed as soon as its noticed. personally i think it makes more sense this way (tried to add to the second coming article, in that case i was subjective and didn't speculate, it still got edited out.)
- I would have to agree with Suit, but I'll be. I just checked out what you were writing about and what you said seem to somewhat exceptible. Goku at that time did seem to "Leech" Broly but remember the power color of the other saiyans and Piccolo was also green when giving there powers to Goku. Also just before Goku blocked the punch, He had the facial expression that he had just had a massive powered up. But it has to go as it was intended by Toei that it was the power from the other heroes that helped Goku and not leeching from Broly so it should not be change or add unless it has a relible soures from either Toei or Funimation. Heat P 18:41, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Thats an interesting theory actually. I never thought of it that way but it MAY explain why broly's hair was golden whe they came to try and punch each other. I wonder if anyone else thought of it this way... The ending DOES indeed suck but let me tell you why he lost from MY point of view. Ok now I think its safe for us to assume that Broly was above an USSJ2 right? But his LSSJ form is still under a SSJ2 in Movie 8 so he would be in between these two forms. After Broly got done pwning everybody with ZERO effort, Goku had received power from his friends after he got done begging for it like a mamas boy. Now seeing as how much more confident he was once they all channeled their power into him, I believe that Goku was now close to, if not already a SSJ2 with all that and ALSO because he was a full powered SSJ at this point in time. How else do you explain Broly's loss? Make sense to you guys?
Jrapidfire 09:56, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
well, reciving power from others then it does not matter if you are transformed or battered to death, take nail, he was nearly dead but boosted piccolo from sub ginyu leves to 2nd form frieza. when goku punced he also wasted every single drop of energy he had, seen as he fell lifeless after punching broly (and rem, the punch did not kill him, he managed to find a ship and leave the planet. to me that seems like if the planet was not doomed goku might have kicked the bucket to an angry yet wounded broly (also note that broly seemed to be made up of ki in his lss form. might explain the wierd transformation that seemingly ripped him apart and made dimentional rips of some sort)
also while i remember it, goku explained to gohan in the rosat that transformations waste a lot of energy, yet they needed the super saiyan power. so transforming would not aide the powerup of goku.
- YOU MAY HAVE MISSEDTHE PART WHEN BROLY WAS STABBED IN THE STOMACH WHEN HE WAS A BABY. HENCE, WITH GOKUS LARGER AMOUNT OF ENERGY CONCENTRATED IN SUCH A SMALL AREA AND HITTING BROLLY I NTHE SAME PALCE WHERE HE WAS STABBED (WEAK AREA) IT WOULD RIP OPEN BROLLYS SKIN AND PROVIDE EASY ACCESS TO INJURE HIM.
-G —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 134.117.157.7 (talk) 01:46, 2 February 2007 (UTC).
Without the energy from Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks and Vegeta, Goku could've never defeated Broly. Also, if Broly had never been stabbed when he was a baby, Broly would've survived that punch as if it were nothing and just slaughtered Goku like a piece of meat. Broly's wound gave Goku the slight advantage and so that one punch was enough to penetrate Broly's skin, rip it open and completely destroy him. Of course, Broly did survive it indeed, it just really, really, really badly damaged his body. Son Gohan (talk) 19:48, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Article
The canoan section maybe wrong. For one the movie could have taken place during the cell saga. Trunks and Vetgate did not go to their forms because it drain too muck of their chi. And if they did, then they could have did during the scenes where they didn't show the fights. And Gohan only turn SUper sayian when Goku pressured him and Cell tortured his friends
Probably not. Goku and Gohan were staying in Super Saiyan for as long as they could during that week before the Cell Games to get used to that form. If this is true then it doesn't explain why they aren't Super Saiyan in the beginning of the movie before Paragus shows up, unless you use Gohan being drunk or Goku being in public with Chi Chi as an excuse. In that case, it's plausible that the movie IS canon, since Vegeta and Trunks wouldn't use against Broly for the same reason they stopped using it against Cell, that it was too slow. Also, does anybody want to fix up the Canon section of the article? It keeps contradicting itself, like someone keeps packing on contradictory information without changing what's already there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.152.155.198 (talk) 00:10, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Soundtrack
Was the soundtrack to this movie ever released on CD? I've tried searching for it but I can't find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.152.155.198 (talk) 00:19, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Summary
Is it just me, or has it gotten worse since the last time I saw it? It's not exactly written very well, the word "annihilated" is overused (and should really be replaced with something like "beaten" or "defeated" anyways), and most importantly, the summary fails to mention that Goku defeated Broly by reopening the wound that Broly received as a child (when he was stabbed). As it stands, the summary states that the punch Goku delivers "...thus defeats him" without any explanation as to how. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.26.70 (talk) 23:50, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
