Drax is a village in the district of Selby in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated just under 6 miles from the town of Selby.

Drax village shop/post office was recently reinstated in the premises that used to be the village shop before its closure and conversion into a residential premises but closed down again in January 2007.

The pub in Drax is the Huntsmans Arms.

Read School is a private boarding school based in Drax. The school has been a focal point for the education of boys in the Selby area for over 340 years. It was originally known as Drax Grammar School and was founded in 1667.

Drax was the site of a Norman priory, Norman castle and a Norman church, but only the church remains. The church has a vicarage and is dedicated to St Peter.

Drax is perhaps best known for Drax power station, which is the largest single power station in the United Kingdom, producing around 8% of Britain's electricity, and is the second-largest coal-fired plant in Europe. It has a potential consumption of 36,000 tonnes of coal a day and produces 1.5 million tonnes of ash a year. It is also the United Kingdom's largest producer of carbon emissions, although one of the most CO² efficient power stations in the UK.
