Dragon Hall, Norwich

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dragon Hall is a medieval building located in King Street, Norwich, Norfolk close to the River Wensum. Although some parts, such as the undercroft, are earlier, the Hall as seen today dates from works carried out by merchant Robert Toppes from 1427 onwards. It is a unique survival of a trading hall. Having been subdivided over the centuries, it was bought by the City Council in the 1970s and has been restored to its original state. iIts modern name comes from the carved dragon on one of the spandrels of the kingpost roof. It is also a Grade 1 listed building.

It was recently renovated thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding.
