[edit] Publication history
Draco's only appearance was in Spider-Man: Invasion of the Dragon Men, a 1974 promotional comic book published by Marvel Comics with Power Records, and which came bundled with a seven-inch, 33 1/3 rpm record of sound effects, music and dialog to accompany the story. This was one of two such releases, the other being Spider-Man: The Mark of the Man-Wolf, also issued in 1974.
[edit] Fictional character biography
Near New York City, a huge fire-breathing dragon leads an army of dragon-men who emerge from meteors striking Earth. He declares himself "Draco, King of the Dragon-Men, Master of the Heavens". After The Daily Bugle sends Peter Parker to photograph the creatures, Parker, as Spider-Man, tracks down Draco and his army as they set up a "Hydro-Magnetic Energy Deactivator". Draco plans to then issue a worldwide ultimatum to the heads of all nations. Following a battle with Spider-Man, the dragon-men are revealed as robots and Draco as Demosthenes Q. Drake, a Nobel Prize-winning biologist who injected himself with a serum made from a giant species of iguana. Draco eventually falls from the Empire State Building, surviving the drop but becoming an iguana.
[edit] Powers and abilities
Draco has superhuman strength and durability. He stands 10 feet tall and has the ability to fly and to expel fire and poisonous gases from his mouth.
