DR Handmade Strings (or simply "DR") is an electric/acoustic guitar and bass string manufacturer. DR Handmade Strings was founded in 1989 by Mark Dronge, son of Guild Guitars founder Alfred Dronge, and Dr. Benzion Rapoport, Ph.D. DR strings are referred to in their advertisements as "the handmade string". The company offers signature guitar strings for Dimebag Darrell called Dimebag Hi-Voltage strings. They also offer signature bass guitar strings endorsed by Marcus Miller and Bootsy Collins, called Fat Beams and Bootzillas respectively.
