[edit] External links
Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Organizational ombudsman. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links as long as the content abides by our policies and guidelines. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. --AbsolutDan (talk) 05:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- In response to your message on my talk page, I truly appreciate your willingness to contribute to articles on which you have expertise. We are certainly in need of more experts to fact-check and otherwise add proper information to our articles. However, external links do not help articles much, and often only serve to clutter the article. The Wikipedia project is aiming for a print version, and as such we need more cited information from reliable sources and less "bare" external links.
- Please do not continue to add bare c-r.org links to multiple articles; instead use an article's talk page if you feel a link is useful to that article - if it truly is, other editors will certainly agree there, and the link can then be re-added.
- You're right that there are many other inappropriate links scattered about Wikipedia. We try to remove those too whenever possible, but feel free to help us out - if you see inappropriate links, either remove them yourself or add {{cleanup-spam}} to the top of the external links section to flag the article for further review of the links.
