Namasthe.( meaning, humble greetings to you.)
I am Dr.Ramakrishnan, from Mangalore, India; serving as professor of English in Vijaya College,Mulki, managed by The Academy of General Education,Manipal,India. As I am presently taking WikiEducator training at Learning 4 Content Workshop,I thought opening a talk page here would help meet one of the requirements.
I am inspired by the idea of global citizenship which needs a culture-centric definition for its realization. The question , what is culture?,arises and without answering it in globally satisfying terms the ideal cannot be actualized.
Culture as context, as content and as method of creative communication unerringly point towards one thing and that is culture as a set of values and meanings. Needles to mention that it is in the human context. Better put, in the global context. The global culture ought to have the uniting feature of being human globally. The conventional ideas of tolerance and accommodation only help retain the distance and differentiation in spite of verbalized unity.
I will be back to listen to you and proceed towards activating the icons of global citizenship. Our labour shall not go in vain.
