[edit] "Unofficial" controversy soon to come

I'm all for having this information in a separate article since "Robotnik" as featured in DiC, Archie, and Sega of America productions is vastly different from the Dr. Eggman seen from the Japanese works by the Sonic Team staff that created him, but calling it unofficial is a pretty loud cry for "START FLAMEWARS HERE." Archie and DiC fans are particularly sensitive about having their alternative continuities called "unofficial" or "uncanon" in any way. Furthermore, in all fairness, these renditions are just as validly licensed by SEGA as any others are, so it's not like they're fan works, even if the quality is comparable in some instances (see Archie Comics' typical storywriting and artwork for the kind of sub-fanfiction quality I'm talking about). So, in short, we may want to consider a different, less biased title for this article before it gets outright merged with Dr. Eggman. Matt S. 19:16, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think there was any malace behind the name of the artical, but I agree it could lead to problems, I suggest changing the name to "Alternate Robotniks" --Zikar 19:21, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I might even suggest that this article be renamed to "Doctor Robotnik" or "Dr Robotnik", since most recent articles will link directly to "Doctor Eggman" and most articles pertaining to the DiC, Archie, Fleetway and Sega of America productions will actually be referencing information in this article. -- Supermorff 13:56, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Isn't it better to describe *all* Dr. Robotnik incarnations at the same place? The European Dr. Robotnik in the Mega Drive games is quite different compared to the Japanese Dr. Eggman in the Mega Drive games, and in more recent games (Dreamcast and later), Dr. Eggman/Robotnik is quite different to *both* of the Mega Drive variants. All variants were created with some kind of involvement from SEGA, so I guess all variants are official. For that reason, it seems strange to state that some of the variants are "alternate". (Stefan2 04:07, 10 October 2006 (UTC))

You're right, they are totally different characters in the European and Japanese games; which is why he still jumps on top of the "End" sign like a spoiled child in the good ending of all versions of the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

[edit] Picture of AoSTH Robotnik

Is it okay for me to post a better quality (not large quality, I mean better colour) screenshot of Dr. Robotnik from Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog which also shows more than just his head? Yawachary 15:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Of course, this is Wikipedia! Anything that positivly contributes to an article is welcome! --Zikar 11:45, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rename proposal

I suggest renaming this article to "Dr. Robotnik (other media)". Any objections, please say "nay", and preferably give a reason. -- Supermorff 14:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

No objections, so I have moved the page. -- Supermorff 15:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

I came here looking for information on Robotnik from Sonic X, but there isn't any!--Mullon 05:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] STC Article

Given that the section for the STC Robotnik has become quite lengthy, and that the Archie Robotnik has his own page, I would suggest splitting the article into Dr. Robotnik (Sonic the Comic character) and Dr. Robotnik (other media).

That way, both of the comic incarnations of Robotnik would have their own seperate articles and the cartoon versions would be kept in the current page. Super Shaz 21:11, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Where's Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie / OVA?

It should be here. 208.101.145.224 13:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Probably, but he only showed up in that 'movie' and was pretty much identical to SegaSonic Robotnik... --Zikar 02:21, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:FOFearcvr.jpg

Image:FOFearcvr.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:08, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template

Perhaps we should keep with the format of the other Sonic hero/villain (and basically any comic character) pages by adding the Superherobox template? --V2Blast 20:37, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
