I don't think we need much on that. It was pretty one-sided. They were getting along fine until 2pac just decided to diss Dre for leaving death row and something about not supporting snoop dogg in court or some bullshit. I suspect he was just pissed that Dre would only produce 2 of his songs. He had to beg Dre to give him "California Love", which was originally supposed to be Dre's songs. He probably signed with Death Row hoping that he would be tight with Dre and Dre would produce his albums. As I said that was pretty one-sided, and Dre probably wouldn't have responded if 2pac had been alive. The only person Dre really had a big beef with was Eazy.

Yeah I remember Dre saying when he was asked in an MTV interview way back about Pac (when pac was still alive) that he was an ultra talented rapper who had all kindsa skills, then the interviewer asked him about what Pac was like as a person and he said, "Oh, he's a punk. Yeah, the environment at Death Row changed once Tupac joined the lable, and most resources were headed to him. That's one of the many reasons Dre left and made Aftermath. I'm sure Tupac dissed everybody who left Death Row. He even got mad at Lady of Rage publically for not participating in his disses and stuff like that. Does anyone have a problem with the trivia section being removed? There is only one bit of info there and wikipedia frowns on trivia. Besides, it doesn't seem necessary to point out that he smokes marijuana. The name of his albums is the chronic.66.167.78.254 05:33, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

The thing was that some editors didn't know how to use footnotes and so used those just to try to attribute information here to the sources. That doesn't work for an encyclopedia; footnotes are a much cleaner way to do so. I cleaned practically all of them out in February/March I believe.--Andrewlp1991 (talk) 01:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

What does this refer to? I hear Dr Dre often refferiong to being accused of 'falling off' i his lyrics, but have no idea what he is talking about.

fell off means to lose your popularity. Dr. Dre went a little bit out of the spotlight after leaving death row but after he signed eminem he was back in full force. that is why he addresses all the haters in 2001. Can't wait for Detox to come and save the music industry.

yeah dre's "Dr. Dre Presents: The Aftermath", "The Firm" were not considered as good as dre's earlier stuff. but the main talk of him falling off was with King T's album "Thy Kingdom Come". That album was supposed to be aftermath's big debut. But only got ok reviews. which wasn't good enough for dre, so dre put the album on hold. Most of the critisms of him falling off were probably from death row.

I notice it was added recently that he is a key figure in innovating G-Funk "along with Ryan West". Is there any source for this? I was under the impression that he produced the Chronic by himself. Drumac 23:44, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Under work ethic it says:

A consequence of this perfectionism is that some artists that initially sign deals with Dre's Aftermath label never release albums. In 2001, Aftermath released the soundtrack to the movie "The Wash". featuring a number of Aftermath acts such as Shaunta, Daks, Joe Beast and Toi. To date, none have released full-length albums on Aftermath and have apparently ended their relationships with the label and Dr. Dre. Other noteworthy acts to leave Aftermath without releasing albums include 2001 vocalist Hittman and 1980s rap icon Rakim (see references for details).

This implies that all those artists were slacking off and didn't have a strong work ethic which is misleading and not true. Actually for most of the cases, the artists left aftermath because Dre never got around to producing their album 66.167.204.49 22:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

i read in an interview that dre had simply signed too many artists to the label in the beginning. he said he thought he could just sign anyone and make it work at the time. but then he realised he couldn't. if someone can find that they should add something about it. id do it myself but id probably do a shit job of it and it will just end up getting deleted.

People tend to spam the "Associated acts" in infoboxes in Wikipedia. Why not just keep it to the most relevant groups like N.W.A. and World Class Wreckin' Cru? Spellcast 08:37, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

According to Template:Infobox_musical_artist#Associated_acts: the field is to be used for "[a]cts from which this act spun off; acts which spun off a group act; groups with which an artist performs; other acts with which the act is associated." I think that we should use that field strictly for groups/solo artists whom dre has frequently worked with, not just once or twice. I monitor many rap/hiphop related articles on my watchlist and notice this happening. On the article, there is almost no mention of the amount of Awards and Nominations Dr. Dre has won during his career. As he is an artist and producer to many award-winning tracks and albums, the list is probably large. An example of what's needed is something like this: List of 50 Cent awards and nominations, which Dr. Dre dosen't have

In the introduction to this article there is a statement that "Dr. Dre is considered one of the greatest producers of all time". I have no opinion about that, but the reference given to it does not back the claim. It has no mention of him being one of the greatest producers of all time. One has to reference such a claim. It's been deleted - obviously must've been copyright infringement. That's a problem that WP:NFCC causes; a lot of times biographical articles lack images due to that policy. Especially when nobody's willing to upload their non-copyrighted photos of Dr. Dre, which I'm sure may exist in some people's photo albums but not on the Internet. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 21:25, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

*How should we refer to Dr. Dre in the article? I took a look at the guidelines [2] and it wasn't much use. I think we should aim for consistency using either: "Dr. Dre", "Young" or "Dre" throughout. Other example articles like Slim Pickens, Hulk Hogan, Ja Rule and Tila Tequila all seem to have this same problem of mixed usage. Is there a precedent?

Regarding media: Because there's no free images of Dr. Dre himself available online, we'll just have to deal with it. But the article is well-sourced and written with acceptable prose; that's why I nominated the article. Regarding the middle name: I got the "Romelle" spelling from Ronin Ro's book Dr. Dre: The Biography that's used as a source frequently here.

P.S.: Regarding images: Good article criteria states that "[t]he presence of images is not, in itself, a requirement for Good articles. However, if images (including other media) with acceptable copyright status are appropriate and readily available, then some such images should be provided." That site is a copyvio of the book Dr. Dre: The Biography by Ronin Ro (published by Thunder's Mouth Press, 2007). Find that book at your local bookstore or library, as it's not on Google Books yet. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 04:20, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

I took a look at the guidelines[3] and it wasn't much use. I think we should aim for consistency using either: "Dr. Dre", "Young" or "Dre" throughout. Other articles like Slim Pickens, Hulk Hogan, Ja Rule and Tila Tequila all seem to have this same problem of mixed usage. Is there a precedent? Sillyfolkboy (talk) 16:15, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Is it "Romell" or "Romelle"? IMDB states the former and we have a mix of the two in this article. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 19:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

It's Romelle; according to the Ronin Ro book used in the references. And I think that "Young" should be used for years before he adopted the "Dr. Dre" nickname. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 04:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
