Dr. Stellar (Dr. Peter Starr) is a fictional character, a Big Bang Comics superhero who first appeared in Big Bang #4.
[edit] Fictional character history
The son of a normal human woman and an alien cop, Peter Starr soon became aware of his power to control stellar energy. His father tried to recruit his son into the Galactic Police, but was killed by alien crooks. Donning his fathers laserproof police uniform, Peter Starr avenged his fathers' death and used the police uniform to fight crime on Earth as Dr. Stellar.
During World War Two, Peter Starr Ph.D worked as an astronomer in Constellation City, and built a solar-light enhancer as a guide for American warplanes to help shorten the time of the war. Although Prof. Panic (Fear incarnate) tried to steal the idea and sell it to the Axis powers, Dr. Stellar halted Panics' plans, and Starr soon won the heart of sociologist Diana Devon.
[edit] Publication history
Dr. Stellar first appeared on the fictitious cover of Red Hot Comics #14 as a back-up feature to The Badge. When the Caliber Press series ended, the Big Bang creators received a large portion of fan-mail asking to see Dr. Stellar in action.
Dr. Stellar did far better than Vita-Man and Robo-Hood, waiting only until BB #4 to appear, but had to wait until World Class Comics to receive his own title.
Dr. Stellar combines elements of Dr. Mid-Nite, Starman, and Adam Strange.[citation needed]
