Dr. Gangrene

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dr. Gangrene is a television horror host based in the Middle Tennessee area. Created in 1999, the show was originally a half hour cable access program called Chiller Cinema. Dr. Gangrene is played by Larry Underwood, who got his inspiration from Sir Cecil Creape, a former Nashville horror host. Chiller Cinema began airing in Hendersonville, TN, but soon was shown in other cable access stations across the country, becoming one of the first to self syndicate.

In 2005 the show moved to WNAB channel 58, WB's affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee, and changed names to The WB58 Creature Feature. It later changed its name slightly to The CW58 Creature Feature to match WNAB's switchover from The WB to The CW in September 2006. It expanded to a 2 hour format showing horror and Sci-Fi movies. In 2005 Dr. Gangrene won a Rondo Award for Best website at the The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards.

Dr. Gangrene continues to stay busy, with his program currently airing on WNAB. He is a regular guest at the Wonderfest convention in Louisville Kentucky, where he hosts live movies every year. He has appeared in a number of magazines and newspapers, as well as several movies, including appearing alongside fellow horror hosts in the documentary American Scary.[1]
