"Dr. Feelgood" is a song by the American hard rock band Mötley Crüe. It is the title track of their 1989 album.
Released in 1989 as the album's first single, "Dr. Feelgood" became Mötley Crüe's first American Top Ten hit, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 23 of that year.[1] To date, "Dr. Feelgood" is Mötley Crüe's only Gold single in the U.S. The song is about a drug dealer named Jimmy who deals to the Mexicans in Hollywood.
It bears some slight resemblance to AC/DC's opening riff from the song Night Of The Long Knives and to Aerosmith's hit song Walk This Way.
A demo of the song was released on the Crücial Crüe edition of the album in 2003 which was sung in that the first person was Dr. Feelgood instead of third person.
