The Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary School was first opened in 2002 in Miami, Florida on-campus at Florida International University. The school was built for the College of Education. It is currently run and operated by the Florida International University College of Education The elementary school's mascot is the mosquito because of Dr. Carlos J. Finlay and his discovery.
