The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library, long known simply as the UNO Library, in Omaha, Nebraska, is located near the center of the main campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the second largest campus in the University of Nebraska system. The current building, constructed in 1976, replaced the campus's original library, and is an example of Brutalist architecture. It is named after Mutual of Omaha's founder, Dr C.C. Criss and his wife. The Dr. Guinter Kahn Addition, completed in 2006, extended the north end of the building. The addition holds an untitled monumental head sculpture by Jun Kaneko.

[edit] Collections

The library's general collection includes approximately 700,000 books, over 34,000 journal titles (print and electronic combined), and developing music and video collections. The library is also a federal depository library.

The library is famous for its Arthur Paul Afghanistan Collection, which was founded in 1974 and now contains over 12,000 titles in many languages on diverse topics relating to Afghanistan. This is the largest collection of Afghanistan materials in the United States.[1]
