DR-2 is the second numbered highway in the Dominican Republic. A common name for it is Autopista del Sur (Highway of the South). The highway runs from Santo Domingo to Comendador and is around 255 km long. One piece of the DR-2 is divided into two sections running from Santo Domingo to San Cristobal. The older piece is a more transited way and runs more in the urban section into the town of San Cristobal then yields to the newer section while the new section runs by the outskirts of the town of San Cristobal. The DR-2 Is a three lane expressway on each side of the road from Santo Domingo to the end of San Cristobal and then converts itself into a regular one lane highway.

Recently works to expand the expressway have begun and they are expected to be finished by 2009-10. The expansion would allow more traffic in the Santo Domingo to Bani and Cruze De Ocoa section of the highway.

The Expressway has a Paying toll in the Exit of the Metropolitan Region of Santo Domingo. After this toll they aren't anymore present in the Highway until its end.
