Hi, I'm David Pinsley. I am Vice President of R&D, for The NPD Group, Inc.
I started at NPD in June 1984 as a Software Engineer, where I developed some of NPD's first PC applications, including Electronic Keypunch, ESP, PostView, and PowerViewer.
In 1992, I began managing our Panel Operations departments. It was about that time when new interactive technologies were just getting off the ground. I launched a new department called Next Generation Data Collection in 1994. We investigated screen telephones, interactive TV, emerging online services, and something known as the World Wide Web. We did some fascinating work then and registered some important firsts in the Marketing Research Industry for NPD, including: online focus group systems, the original PC Meter, and web-based surveys.
I led the Enterprise group from 2001-2003, during some of our most important technology infrastructure growth.
R&D is my passion, and it's vital to NPD. In 2003 I re-established the R&D department. I love combining technology, analytic thought, and creativity to design new business opportunities or to help solve seemingly intractable problems.
