Downward stroke

Downward stroke can mean:

  • In handwriting, a downward stroke (downstroke) is a ballistic stroke having a negative vertical-velocity component of the pen-tip trajectory.
  • In guitar terminology, a "down(ward) stroke" (better known as Downpicking is a stroke having a negative vertical-velocity component of the tip of the guitar-pick's trajectory.
