Downtown Hayward is a district in Hayward, California, and is home to Hayward City Hall and the Hayward Public Library. Located in the City Plaza across the street is the original Hayward City Hall, Centennial Hall, and the Hayward City Center. In October 2008, Cinema Place will open where the former Lucky store closed in 2001 and moved to a new location on Mission Blvd. The Hayward Fault runs through the area. Foothill Blvd is also known as The Hayward Strip, a shopping strip that was built in the 1950s. Old Historic buildings are on B & Main Streets like the Green Shutter Hotel & Plaza, Palmtag Building, and more. The Hayward Museum is also in Downtown. The area is the original part of the city of Hayward. The Julio Bras Portuguese Park is on First Street.
