Downside is a village in the English county of Surrey. It is a small rural community in the River Mole valley between Cobham to the north and the M25 motorway to the south. Immediately to the north is Cobham Park, an old country house that has been converted to apartments by a recent redevelopment.
Downside has a charming village green on which the Downside & Hatchford Sports Day is held annually every year on August Bank Holiday Monday. Also on the green is Downside Sports & Social Club, a friendly club with regular entertainment and always open to welcoming new members as well as the Cricketers set back on the other side of the Green.
To complete the village feel, Downside Village Hall (recently refurbished 2004) is available to hire and hosts classes and meetings from local groups and organisations.
Just off the green in the south east corner is a well preserved hand-operated water pump.
