User talk:Douglike

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah! I'd be happy to adopt you, if you leave me a message on my talk page and you can ask me all the questions you want and I'll do my best to find the answers, I don't jsut answer questions I can help you in a range of ways, e.g User warning templates, where you can participate and what you can do here, you may wish to place {{adopter|Tellyaddict}} on you Userpage. Cheers! Tellyaddict 17:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Mhh, I am unsure as to what you mean, some tags are not allowed to be removed from articles unless a valid reason is supplied and some are, do you think you could give me a link to one on these articles and I have a look? Also, may I ask what you mean by stage4? Thank! Tellyaddict 17:53, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Oohh, I see, if you professionaly translated the articles and changed its status according to this, that is OK, as long as you know what you are changing is correct, also its an idea to leave an edit summary when editing, it helps editors a lot, leave me a note if you need more info. Cheers - Tellyaddict 18:43, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Would you like to learn about user warnings, reverting vandalism and how to do it? Tellyaddict 14:54, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Please accept my utmost of apologies for the very late replies, i was away and I apologise, do you think you could give me 20mins or so and I'll help you then? Tellyaddict 16:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
OK! Just wondering; would you know how to warn a user for vandalidsm or other bad acts yet, (I will tell you I'm just wondering).Tellyaddict 16:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
You can see a list of all the user warnings here, these range from blatant vandalism to creating bad pages, including many more. So, lets say I introduced a deliberate factual error to an article, pretent that you warned me about this, show me how you would respond on my sandbox and I'll give you some feedback.Tellyaddict 16:46, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, thats great! However I do have one thing to say, you are meant to start at level one warnings which is assume good faith then move up to level 2, then 3, then 4 then if they continue to do wrong after their level four warning then you can list them at WP:AIV for administrator intervention, but I'll teach you about that too. When properly warning users you can do this (say for obvious vandalism) {{subst:uw-vandalism1|article title here}} ~~~~ but it is not vital but makes it easier for other users to see where they have vandalised and if their is a pattern, have another go, I'm sure you'll get it right! Tellyaddict 17:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

So, finally (your probably bored), how would you respond if someone for the first time removed {{afd}} tags from articles? show me on my sandbox. If you have a look at the different sections you will see, have a closer look and try it out, apologies for origially typing in the wrong template.Tellyaddict 17:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Do you know about reverting vandalism? I'll willing to teach you this. Tellyaddict 11:53, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, Vandalism can be indentified by viewing the Recent changes, if a user or IP blanks a page then the edit summary will automatically say: →Blanked the Page or if they blanked the text and wrote something like hi the edit summary would be →Replaced page with hi, for more info you can see WP:DIFF, is this too hard or shall I continue? Tellyaddict 12:01, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, heres some more info, when you revert vandalism (their will be a diff page which will show the changes to made to that page highlighted in red and if the one on the right hand side is vandalism and the one on the left is clean the revert) you can either click undo and then it automatically leaves an edit summary then click save page - but check first you are not undoing legitamited edits, or on the difference on the left side of the page where their is no vandalism you can just click edit and it will make you aware that you're editing a prior version of the page, the you can save it that way and the vandalism wont be there anyway because its a prior version of the page. I tell you what, I'll write something on my sandbox like Please could Douglike revert this and then you revert it in either way and post a warning on my sandbox for vandalism (not on my main talk page though or people will think I'm a vandal!).Tellyaddict 14:49, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Do you want to try it out on my sandbox, I've left a msg there.Tellyaddict 15:01, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Wow, you're making great process on Wikipedia, now what would you like to learn about, if you don't know I can show you some different areas in which you can participate in, its up to you though! Tellyaddict 15:10, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, In my honest opnion I'd probably suggest not nominating for GA status yet and see if you can find any pictures and I'll add an infobox if I've got time.Tellyaddict 15:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Well firstly its best to read or at least skim over and roughly know WP:CSD and WP:NOT first, they help a lot in some cases, leave a message when done.Tellyaddict 15:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Apologies for the late reply, their are many areas you can participate in on Wikipedia, you can patrol the Special:newpages and mark them with

or others aslong as they meet the criteria for the template, you can participate in WP:XFD debates, if you do it is useful to know WP:NOT as you do anyway, or you can go to the requests for comment, or give your opinion about candidates up for adminship - they can be found at WP:RfA, you can work on bringing articles up to standards (WP:MOS) or all the things what you do now. Their are other areas as well which I can tell you about, should this be necessary. Cheers! Tellyaddict 16:58, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Nearly their but that is for blatant vandalism, if you look in the different sections their is a bit for introducing deliberated factual errors, try again, good start though! Tellyaddict 17:03, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, hope you enjoyed your weekend away! I was wondering if you would like some help in adding graphics or anything to your Userpage, if your fine with it now then thats OK but if you want to do it up a little I'd be happy to help (or do it for you) if you tell me what you would like doing, if anything.Tellyaddict 14:18, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
He, he, its easy to catch, becoming a Wikiholic is easily done lol. I'll list some things shortly but I'm busy for the min but I'll reply A.S.A.P. Cheers - Tellyaddict 15:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to say hello, you are the proofreader of some of my translations (User:Tirkfl/translations). I am translating mainly to improve and to expand my English skills. One can learn quite a lot by reading the corrected versions ;-) I hope you enjoy participating in the Wikipedia project! Welcome again, and please forgive me my mistakes ;-). Tirkfl 12:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You are right, proofreaders are difficult to find! But it is very important to correct someone else's translations and articles. I really appreciate your work. Thanks again! Tirkfl 14:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] United States Code Congressional and Administrative News

Thank you for reveiewing and passing United States Code Congressional and Administrative News for Good Article Status. I was very worried that whoever reviewed it would take one look, dismiss the article as too short, and be done with it. Thank you for taking the time to give the article more serious consideration.-Dekkanar 01:27, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Green Party of Canada

Thank you for taking this on. I really appreciate it. I've made a few changes and replied on the talk page. As an aside, you didn't sign your post. GreenJoe 15:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] PPS

Yes, I was scratching my head about what to add to it as well. I'm sure there's something but not sure what. Keep up the good work, though! The Land 11:57, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage

Hi, thought I better start a new section as the other one was getting very big lol. We we were talking about your userpage and if you do wan to make some changes to it I'll be happy to do it for you, their are loads of things you can have on your Userpage such as Userboxes, or if you look at my userpage it says Tellyaddict... instead of This user..., thats because I translude them from User:Tellyaddict/UB and that is just a long page of their codes, if you would like me to make changes to your userpage then leave a message and tell me what you would like doing and if you want a border or background colour round it and how you want it presented, you can get some excellent ideas from the Userpage Design Centre. Tellyaddict 10:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Well can you see anything on mine which you like? What you do on Wikipedia, Userboxes, articles, created, on or offline status (as mentioned), picture of the day, todays motto, I can provide links to all of these places.Tellyaddict 10:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
I noticed you havent't edited for a week or so, just wondering if you still need any help, you know where to contact me if you do.Tellyaddict 10:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Translation question

Hello! The word Straßendurchbrüche means, that they have torn down houses and other areas in order to be able to build the street. Feel free to ask, if you need further help! Tirkfl 12:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Dienstleistungsnutzung is quite nonsense, even for an compound word. I suppose this means, that there are service jobs (hairdressers, restaurants, MDs, pharmacies) in this quarter besides the cultural ones. Tirkfl 12:16, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Zwerchhaus: I never heard that before, but searching the net gave the following results: gabled dormer or gabled lucarne. I suggest you leave this word untranslated and add an explanation. Tirkfl 10:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Retirement

I would just like to tell you that I am retiring from Wikipedia, I have registered a new account and I am going to start fresh and edit under that name, not because of any actions on Wikipedia or users of Wikipedia but just to start fresh. I dont want to make a big deal out of it but thought I should tell you so you know. I thought it was appropriate to tell you as your adopter. Thank you! More info See you around! [edit] GAC backlog elimination drive

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:42, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:12, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
