Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

[[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]]

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

I did not vandalize the Metal Gear Solid 3 page, with the exception of the "smoking" part. The characters are real. Look at the official website of Metal Gear Solid 3 under "Characters." Andre Wong 21:11, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Mga.jpg

I have a suspicion that this image is copyrighted since you pulled it from the Metal Gear Acid homepage. Could you please verify whether it's indeed a copyright violation? If it is, please remove it from the Metal Gear Acid page at add a {{imagevio}} tag on the image page itself. Thanks! --David Iberri | Talk 18:49, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Source for Image:Hideo.jpg?

Please add a description of where you got the above image to it's page. It's a nice image, and it's very well placed on the page, but since it does not have license information, it will eventually have to be deleted unless you can provide a source for it. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! JesseW 04:08, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Coded Arms

I appreciate the work you did on the Coded Arms article. Good stuff! --cheese-cube 13:31, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Metal Gear Solid

Several images you uploaded for the articles on Metal Gear Solid don't have sufficient source info. Please add this info to those images. Thanks, Ingoolemo talk 07:34, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] David Hayter

Do you have a source to back up this edit? [1] AlistairMcMillan 23:43, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Okay I'm assuming you aren't aware how notoriously unreliable IMDB are. Do you have any other sources? There is a difference between someone writing a rejected script and someone doing a draft of a script that actually gets filmed. For example, our page on Joss seems to suggest that the final X-Men had very little to do with him. AlistairMcMillan 01:42, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I knew I'd read this somewhere: I wrote an X-Men movie. I wrote a huge overhaul of the first one. It was based on their structure. It was not used. ... My frustration over “X-Men,” which I think I was a little ungentlemanly about, came as much in the process of my not being informed that my rewrite had been thrown out as it was about the movie itself. [2] AlistairMcMillan 01:47, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
How do you know that the credits listed on that version of the script are correct? I know that WGA credits are sometimes inaccurate (e.g. Rosenthal and Konner's credits on Trek VI even though Meyer says their studio-promoted draft was basically ignored), but I'd like to see an authoritative source. [edit] Image Tagging Image:MGS2 Premium Package.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MGS2 Premium Package.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vic Vipr TC 13:43, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks?...

Um...thanks for the tip. Although I don't completely agree with that policy, I guess I was mainly following WP:IAR. Anyway, I'll keep that in mind in the future. Alex43223 04:11, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Centralized video game navbox discussion

You previously expressed a strongly-stated opinion about a video game navbox or all video game navboxes in general, or perhaps I clicked on your talk page by mistake. Whichever it is, you are invited to offer your opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Navboxes III: Son of Navboxes. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 07:32, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Doc MGS2 Cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Doc MGS2 Cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Films

Mmm, baked potatoes... I noticed that your contributions were centered on film articles, and I was wondering if you had any interest in expanding film articles beyond categorization. Any chance of that? Drop me a line on my talk page! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 15:53, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Metal Gear 2 Boxart.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Metal Gear 2 Boxart.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 02:03, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WQA

I've responded to User:Ecoleetage's concerns at Wikipedia:WQA#Talk:Phil_Hall_.28US_writer.29_and_user_DoubleCross. I just wanted to make sure you were aware in case you hadn't put it on your watch list. Please respond at WP:WQA, Thanks.--Doug.(talk contribs) 20:01, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Having heard nothing from you, I have closed this matter after giving the initiator a warning. Although, I did not see anything in your conduct that matched any of the canned warnings, you should be careful to only add relevant material even on the talk page, the references to a forum were not relevant and do not meet the requirements of WP:V so they do not help to improve the article. This is particularly important when dealing with a living person, please refer to WP:BLP for more information. Thanks.--Doug.(talk contribs) 16:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Howardseal.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Howardseal.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 19:04, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DnL-Logo.jpg

I have tagged Image:DnL-Logo.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 13:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
